Stephanie Bond & the Body Movers in KindleWorlds LIVE on Authors on the Air

    in Books

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes the magnificent Stephanie Bond. Stephanie Bond was several years into a corporate computer programming career when an instructor in her night school MBA program remarked that she had a flair for writing and encouraged her to submit one of her projects to academic journals. "But," Stephanie says, "all I could think was 'I wonder if I could write a romance novel?'" Bond grew up on a farm in eastern Kentucky where the entertainment choices were few. Luckily, she had a beloved aunt who shared her passion for reading. "When she visited once a year, she brought boxes and boxes of gothic novels by Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney and lush historical romances--I was in heaven! So suddenly thinking about writing in the genre of the books I loved was very exciting." After writing every spare moment for two years, Stephanie sold her first romantic comedy manuscript, IRRESISTIBLE? to Harlequin books. Two years later, she walked away from her corporate career to write commercial fiction full time. To date, she's published over 60 romance and mystery projects with Random House, St. Martin's Press, HarperCollins, and Mira Books, and is most well-known for her BODY MOVERS humorous mystery series.  She is a  featured author in Kindle Worlds.  http://amzn.to/182Otsn.

British author Philip Kerr joins Authors on the Air for a LIVE discussion

    in Books

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack is proud to welcome highly regarded British author Philip Kerr to the studio to discuss his current novel The Lady from Zagreb.  Philip Kerr was born in Edinburgh in 1956 and read Law at university. Having learned nothing as an undergraduate lawyer he stayed on as postgraduate and read Law and Philosophy, most of this German, which was when and where he first became interested in German twentieth century history and, in particular, the Nazis.  He spent most of his time in advertising researching an idea he'd had for a novel about a Berlin-based policeman, in 1936. And following several trips to Germany - and a great deal of walking around the mean streets of Berlin - his first novel, March Violets, was published in 1989 and introduced the world to Bernie Gunther. Visit Mr. Kerr's Amazon page at http://amzn.to/1ybAsEy.

DEA agent -Author James O. Born & "Scent of Murder" LIVE -Authors on the Air

    in Books

James O. Born knows what he's writing about.  He is an agent with the DEA and a highly regarded author of fiction.  Authors on the Air host Pam Stack chats with author James O. Born LIVE on Monday, April 20th at 8pm ET. Here is more about James.   When I was new to police work, as an agent with U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, I had an unrealistic view of what my job would be like. On television, DEA agents are in shoot-outs and get the chicks but in real life they follow suspected drug violators around until they can make a case. If you're a new guy, no one in the DEA much cares about family life or other interests, you just drive. I read a lot of Tom Clancy and W.E.B. Griffin because I liked the idea of learning something about the military. I would read the occasional police book but felt the books didn't reflect my experience as a cop. I was not a CIA trained assassin. I could not rip a shotgun out of someone's hands without suffering a catastrophic injury. I didn't crawl out of crushed police cars and shake off the injury. Neither did any cop I knew. So I wrote a book based on real police work with a ficitonal plot. Buy James's books here http://amzn.to/1zxiA29.

Author Selena Robins, on writing romance, stardom and more on Authors on the Air

    in Books

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes the very talented author Selena Robins.  Unable to stay focused in school—science and math didn’t equate to happily ever after—Selena excelled in Daydreaming 101 and Creative Writing. Her entrepreneurial skills became evident in the latter part of Junior High when she found herself penning essays and short stories for five bucks a pop. Her future as a writer was foreshadowed by winning first prize in a contest run by the Humane Society—a romance about two race horses who fell in love (the filly won the race and the stud). Selena has continued her passion for happily ever after both in her life (okay, some days she’s sitting in first class on the Frazzled Express…but still) and in her books. In love with her family, friends, books, laughter, hockey, lively discussions, chocolate and red wine (sometimes all at the same time), Selena is a dragon slayer who enjoys reading and writing sassy heroines and hot heroes. After giving up her dream of becoming a movie star/dancer/singer, Selena decided that her second-in-line dream was to be a writer. Even if she never got published, she’d still want to write stories with fun characters and happy ever after endings.

Authors Mike Faricy & Sean Sweeney LIVE on Authors on the Air with Pam Stack

    in Books

Authors on the Air host Pam Stack presents a LIVE interview with two very popular authors.  In the first half hour we will chat with Mike Faricy, author of the Dev Haskell series.  A bit about Mike: The Dirty Lowdown called Mike Faricy America's hottest new mystery writer. Robert Carraher and the Irish Gazette referred to him as Minnesota's Master of the Bizarre. He has been nominated for a Minnesota book award. All his books are stand alone, they can be read in whatever order you wish. They're filled with the sort of oddballs we're all curious about, but wisely prefer to keep at a distance.  Visit Mike's Amazon page at http://amzn.to/1uJhpzn . In the second half of the show we will speak with Sean Sweeney.  And now, a little about Sean: Sean Sweeney's love of reading began in 1988, when he was handed J.R.R. Tolkien's classic The Hobbit, and was given a needed boost with John Grisham novels and the Star Wars Expanded Universe. His passion for writing began in 1993, as a sophomore in high school, when he began writing sports for his local newspaper.  Visit Sean's Amazon page at http://amzn.to/1zawB5o.
