Being able to acknowledge the higher self and the ego—together—takes contemplation. Tune in this week as Lisa Jones and I discuss how those awakened and contemplating are examples for us to mirror. Not much unlike a landmark or a beacon, the way to go is marked. If devotion and spiritual authenticity is affirmed, the contemplation of it can have a transforming and awe-inspiring effect on those who witness it. This is a natural consequence of experiencing a spiritual truth. This show is about developing the skill of contemplation. We learn that concentration and trusting one’s inner compass enables us to apprehend the mysterious and divine laws of life. Often, this hidden spiritual power emanates from us, influencing others, without us being aware of how it happens. Two things hold true in contemplation: 1 – we can survey our inner lives and make certain our personal resources are intact; 2 – we can exert influence on any depletion and fix the cause.
These two spiritual journeys which seem similar in practice are a bit different. One is attempting to learn mind habits while the other is about reflection on a spiritual teaching or reading. Call in and speak with Rev. Kim and Rev. Richard about your particular spiritual leanings on the topic of mediation and contemplation, or both.
If there is a fault of a good Master, it is pushing his talented apprentice beyond his pace. In a sense, it is failing him. In another, the demanding Master may get a result- pushing raw talent to a higher level. The balance is suppressing imagination, too much, too soon. Natural talent is rare. Developed talent, depends on effort and ability. A good life depends on outlook. If only life were a dress rehearsal there would be a chance for a do-over. Maturity of mind and emotion often releases after the fact insight. Tell me, from your own experience does this account for the majority or minority of mature men?
Freemasonry is not a task but a calling that requires effort. Whether you fall into this opportunity by caprice or design is a petty distinction but one that exists. Regardless, be gentle and generous with brethren but never expect that from others. You can stand on reputation but remember changing the way you are seen by others lags behind your own sense of change. As Freemasonry reinvents you, be patient.
Is life worth living? What are the essental questions? Answers will likely come from places otherwise unexplored. At times we follow. At times we stumble. At times we walk with eyes fixed on the horizon, confident we will deal with whatever comes. We learn from various sources, their is perfection in simplicity, what some call Occams Razor. What is the nature of freemasonry? For some, freemasonry is the haiku of arts and sciences. Let it penetrate your being. The philosophy works only if you let it. Transformation is the result of doing the work, smallest andlargest, quick and tedious. And doing so willingly only if you're willing. Otherwise- run away for another day.
Passivity of mind leads to much stress. It ultimately steals our peace. One can experience memory problems, difficulty making decisions, difficulty concentrating, and a lack of judgment as a result. Feelings can seem out of kilter. Do the wheels of your mind turn so much that you cannot rest, while at other times you feel so mentally drained that you cannot even focus on a simple task? Do you tend to be overly talkative without accomplishing much. or do you simply feel crushed and unable to function at times? If you are seeking peace of mind and restoration of your judgment, memory, and focus, join us tonight as we discuss the perils of a passive mind.

Why ask important questions? Important to whom? Is it only smart people who ask important questions? If the moral rudder of a man can be improved by his admission to an Order, that in his mind makes him a better person- who am I to argue? What then happens to free-will, freedom of thought? Where does he go if he is looking for answers to important questions that are not forthcoming from the Order?
How can we reach out to every mason that progress and development comes easily to some, with more difficulty to others? If we talk about building his mind, we need to show that we respect the privacy of his contemplative nature and be unjudgemental about his participation in the status quo.
Join Deacon Kristina Rake of the United States Old Catholic Church for our Long Distance Liturgy of the Word. Join us for a brief bible study. Deacon Rake will lead us in worship. We cannot partake of the Liturgy of the Eucharist together yet, but we can join together to sing hymns, praise God, pray for ourselves and the world, listen to the Sunday Readings, and engage in a guided meditation in which we have a personal encounter with the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ.

An award winning songwriter and author, Jon’s gritty, often irreverent style strikes a chord of contemplation. Jon demands your attention with subtle innuendo and carefully scattered satire. As a singer, songwriter and published author, Jon’s signature is intentionally provocative - and refreshingly entertaining.
