June is always a hard month for me and my family. The tragic accidental death of my son, Mickarl D. Thomas, Jr. on June 14, 1997 still leaves a void in my heart too painful for many to understand. His death was the result of a single occupant fatal car accident after drinking at a party, days after graduating from high school with his twin sister. That was 18 years ago, but the memories are still vivid in my mind.
Tragedy is hard to comprehend…whether it’s accidental or intentional. It leaves a trail of tears in the wake of surviving victims, family members and friends often left behind.
The latest tragedy occurred last night when worshippers at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church were simply exercising their right to attend Bible Study in the House of God. For nine of them, including the Pastor of the church, it would be their last day on earth, as they were murdered by a hateful young man bent on ending their lives for his own personal satisfaction.
What do you do when the answers don’t come from such tragedies? How do you console family members and friends whose unbearable pain can be difficult to watch? What do you say when the words are too cumbersome?
Today’s show will offer some responses to life’s tragedies from my personal perspective, having lived all of these years in the wake of my son’s death.

In addition, we'll talk about Vainglory, the "unapologetically hardcore" MOBA by Super Evil Megacorp designed for touch-screen devices.
Storytelling in Gaming 2015
Adventure games are constantly evolving, and two of this year's biggest have been Telltale Games' Game of Thrones and Square Enix's Life is Strange. More About Mary:
Mary Edwards is a composer, songwriter and sound artist whose projects range from recordings and performances "evocative of epic cinematic soundtracks combined with lyrical intimacy..." This is episode #4 of the Ask a Foster Leader Call-In Show. Ask a Foster Leader is an opportunity for anyone to ask a question about the foster youth experience and to get that question answered by Foster Leaders (those who have triumphed over the obstacles that are traditionally associated with foster care and have become an inspiration to others). Questions will be answered in the order they are received on this event page. If you would like to submit a question privately, please private message the Ask a Foster Leader facebook page or email email@example.com.
If you are a former foster youth, you have two opportunities to contribute to this discussion. You may comment on the questions on this event page and/or you can join the panel for the live-call in show at 7PM (central) on Tuesday, April 28th, by calling (646) 652-2296.
The topics discussed on this panel will include:
What advice would you have for an individual or organization who is currently (or thinking about) providing mental health services for the foster youth community?
If you aged out of foster care, what would you say your greatest needs were? What where your biggest hurdles? If there was a program that would have taken you in and helped make a smoother transition, would you have participated and what would your expectations for the program be?
When comments designed to motivate, like "Keep your head up" and "Try to stay strong," are not working, what are some ways to encourage/console a youth or young adult who is going through a difficult time?

The Angel of Peace Appears to the Shepherds of Fatima Three Times and Gives Them Communion
The angel appeared three times to the shepherds of Fatima in order to prepare them for future apparitions of Our Lady and elevate them to a supernatural state with Holy Communion.
During the third apparition the angel gave Lucy Holy Communion with a Host from which drops of Blood fell into the chalice. Francesco and Jacinta, not having yet made their First Holy Communion, were given the contents of the chalice. In this apparition the angel told them: “Eat and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, terribly outraged by the ingratitude of men. Offer reparation for their sakes and console your God”.
First Apparition of the Angel
“We began to see, in the distance, a light whiter than snow in the form of a young man, quite transparent, and as brilliant as crystal in the rays of the sun. As he came near we were able to see his features: a young man about 14 or 15 years old and very beautiful. We were surprised and quite taken aback. We did not say a word. He reached us and said: ‘Do not be afraid. I am the angel of peace. Pray with me.’ He knelt, bending his forehead to the ground. With a supernatural impulse we did the same, repeating the words we heard him say: ‘My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You. I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You. Pray in this way.

Gamification works pretty well if you're making the latest mobile game, but most enterprises are struggling with it. In fact, mention gamification in the enterprise and you're likely to get a lot of groans and people who say, "we tried that. It didn't work." If that's your experience, out latest IT Life Radio guest, Steve Sims CDO of Badgeville's Behavior Lab, will tell you that you've probably been doing it all wrong. On Wednesday, May 6th at 3PM ET, he'll tell us all about how to do it right.
Gamification can be a tool of transformation in your enterprise. It can be used to achieve those pesky goals you're having trouble reaching, change hearts and minds, and to learn new skills. You can use it to measure progress in an organization and even to improve morale.
Do it wrong, and you're adding hassle and effort to an organization pressed for time. And you are likely to turn off your employees. So you better listen to Steve tell you how to do it right.
We'll talk to Steve about:
Aligning gamification to the needs of your enterprise
Using gamification in education and training
Making employees happier and more engaged
