    Todd Wilkinson on Ted Turner

    in Environment

In writing his new book "Last Stand: Ted Turner's Quest to Save a Troubled Planet," environmental journalist Todd Wilkinson ventured deeper into the inner space of Ted Turner than any other before him. That inner space reveals a Turner who has largely been unknown to most people.  Last Stand has won national critical acclaim and has been widely adopted as an essential reading for conservation organizations, universities, government policy makers, businesses, and book clubs across the country. But as many say, "Last Stand" actually reads like an adventure story.

Todd, who started his career nearly 30 years ago as a violent crime reporter in Chicago, first met Ted in 1992 in Montana where Turner has his flagship ranch, the Flying D, and where Todd lives today.  For the book Todd interviewed a number of noteworthy individuals including four Nobel Peace Prize laureates, Jane Fonda, Sen. Sam Nunn and many other major figures. Todd has been on a national tour promoting Last Stand and he joins us today from the wild American West.

Congressman Danny Davis Considers Presenting New Policing for Police and Prisons

    in Women

Our Blogtalk radio family has worked together to create two pieces of legislation, one concerning Police and the other concerning Prisons. Today Congressman Danny Davis of the 7th District will listen to these suggestions and guide us through the process of how these ideas can be presented to Congress made into laws. The proposed legislation is as follows:

Prisons: 1) Remove the objective to keep these as profit making ventures. Change the objective to one of eventually closing them all, "going out of business." 2) Make the objective to restore to wholeness those who have committed offenses against others, not punishment or vengeance for their crime. 3) Release everyone who is not jailed for a violent offence. 4) Release everyone incarcerated for drug trafficking or using drugs in which no weapons or acts of violence were involved. 5) Allow those who are in jail because they cannot pay a bond to be immediately released, if jailed for a non-violent offense. 6) Provide psychological evaluations and counseling services for violent offenders serving time in prison. 7) Provide education for those incarcerated, if they do not have a high school diploma. 8) Provide vocational training for those who are inside, preparing them for when they will be released. 9) Allow those serving long time or life sentences to serve the community by talking to errant youth in a "scared straight" program. 10) Expunge all records after the person has served time and been released, and do not require any reference or admission of committing a felony on an job applications.

Talking In Circles: NASCAR's new testing policy, Todd Parrott, Cale Conley,

    in Sports

    Talking In Circles 12-13-14

    NASCAR’s New Testing policy

Todd Parrott joins RCR as Xfinity Series Director-

Good for him to battle back from a suspension for a banned substance. IMO- he’s one of the top 5 minds in the garage area and this move ALONE puts Ty Dillon as the favorite to win the NXS championship in the 2015 season. That’s how good Todd Parrott is. He worked with TBR last season and did a hell of a job.

Allgaier staying at HScott Motorsports/HScott Motorsports and Chip Ganassi form alliance in NXS.- Veteran Mike Shiplett will crew chief the No.42 Chevrolet in NXS with drivers Kyle Larson and Dylan Kwasniewski.

Bobby Labonte will run plate races for Fas Lane Racing- Broke on this show a few weeks ago by Dominick Aragon but confirmed this weekend by Catchfence.com. Labonte will run 4 plate races with Frank Stoddard as cc. C&J Energy Resources will sponsor. Also sounds like Austin Theriault may be the leading candidate to drive the other races. Definantly sounds like it’s going to be a young kid with sponsorship. Boris Said will run both road races.

Cale Conley to run full-time for Tri-Star Motorsports- Young 22 year old driver Cale Conley will drive the full season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for Tri-Star Motorsports. Conley made 11 start for RCR last season and recorded 1 top ten finish in those 11 starts. Interesting move.

Hornaday out of Trucks- Sounds like Ron Hornaday Jr will not run trucks in the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He will return to his roots and build chassis for late stock cars. Thoughts? Hornaday has 360 starts in trucks with 51 wins and 4 championships. Gonna miss the guy. He is Mr. Truck Series. Hall of Fame?
