NFL Concussion Settlement, Co-lead Council Chris Seeger with Important Info!

    in Football

We are very fortunate to have Chris Seeger, Co Lead Counsel in the Concussion legal action against the NFL, join us to discuss the NFL concussion settlement and get some of the info YOU NEED TO KNOW in order to make the best decision for yourself and your loved ones!

From the Seeger Weiss website......."More recently, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania appointed Mr. Seeger in 2012 to lead the highly visible and contentious multidistrict litigation against the National Football League arising out of concussion-related injuries sustained by thousands of former NFL players over the past several decades. In the face of significant legal and scientific obstacles, Mr. Seeger brought all of his experience and diplomacy to bear as chief negotiator in crafting a $765 million global settlement for thousands of former NFL athletes in August of 2013."

The Real Football Wives (and Lives) program does not endorse any particular position in the concussion lawsuit.  We believe that everyone involved should be as informed as possible, possess the facts and make the right decision as it applies to their own situation.

Due to the importance of this matter and the upcoming deadline for retired players to respond, this conversation and episode will focus exclusively on this particular discussion and our guest Mr. Chris Seeger.

Treat Symptoms or Explore the Causes of Parkinson's Disease?

    in Health

Everyone want s to see symptoms reversed now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Now. The model we have been taught to believe in is the following:

Make an appointment with the doctor.
Get a prescription for medicine or surgery.
    Celebrate a reversal of symptoms.

The focus is on a treatment of symptoms, not on exploring the possible cause (or causes) of symptoms. We should all be thankful that the option of treating symptoms is available for Parkinson's Disease. It has helped many people. Not everyone benefits however. Some people experience little or no relief from taking medications for Parkinson's or pursuing surgery.

On this show I disuss the choice between treating symptoms and exploring the cause of Parkinson's symptoms. Which is the better choice? It depends of course. Listen to my show to know why. I also answer questions submitted by listeners.

    in Education

Welcome to another episode the empowerment zone. I am Constance Miller, brain injury survivor of more than 30 years and Managing Director of Brain Injury Resource Center, located on the Internet at http://www.headinjury. I'd like to thank: all our listeners for bringing our voices, to your home, your mobile device wherever you are all around the world. Have you ever sustained a brain injury have you ever known anyone who had a concussion? These days there is a lot of talk in the media about domestic violence, football players and Post Concussion Syndrome, PCS. However, the general public doesn’t really understand how serious a seemingly minor concussion can be. Nor do they understand the relationship between a history of concussion and domestic violence. One of the main reasons we’re tackling this topic this evening is that even a seemingly minor concussion can have life-long, life altering consequences. And that is the topic of tonight's discussion. The plan is to learn from one another and to educate one another about TBI and its aftermath. We know personally just how a traumatic even a concussion can be. Please call in (424) 243-9540, and tell us a little about yourself, your TBI; how it happen and how things are going at this time and we'll put our heads together and offer the benefit of our experiences and hopefully in all of that we'll find solutions that work for you. Tonight's format is "Brainstorm."

"Direct Impact / Concussion Discussion" on K&K SPORTS TALK

    in Sports

SPECIAL GUESTS:  Tim Lavin and Lemuel Adams.

Tim's Book: “Walk-On U” illustrates the incredible phenomenon of the “College Walk-on.” Depicting the ugly, the bad, and the good, this book is about survival, education, mental toughness, and character building of student athletes who, without athletic scholarships and true to their talents, walk-on the team in search of a dream. The seldom discussed realities of true Walk-On experiences will cover everything from heart, determination, patience, and sheer will of these hope-to-be student athletes as they attempt to conquer massive amounts of adversity and abuse while they willfully pay to practice. This book is about achieving a humbling internal victory, (not seen by the fans), both on and off the field, providing building blocks for future success in life after sports.

Interviews across the country from former Walk-Ons, scholarship players, coaches, equipment managers, and trainers will illustrate and substantiate the actual culture of drudgery walk-ons endure.
Because of harsh treatment and few rewards, most successful Walk-Ons come away from their experience with more knowledge than their counterpart scholarship athletes and better prepared to face the oncoming world.

  • John Carver Show - Dr. C. M. Ward - Only Believe & Symptoms of Salvation

    in Self Help

For 25 years, from 1953 to 1978, Dr. Ward was host of Revivaltime, the flagship weekly radio broadcast of the Assemblies of God. During its heydayRevivaltime was heard on hundreds of stations via the ABC radio network, and the program received from 12,000 to 15,000 letters each month from listeners around the world, including notes of appreciation from such well-known individuals as President Lyndon Johnson and Queen Juliana of Holland.

Thousands of listeners across the earth considered C.M. Ward their pastor, and many in the radio industry of the 1950s placed Revivaltime second in popularity only to Hour of Decision, the weekly radio program of the young evangelist Billy Graham.

In this show I just read the words of Dr. Ward.  I cannot match his style of teaching and preaching.

  • Episode 2: Second Sight, extra sensory perception and temporal lobe brain injury

    in Education

Welcome to another episode of Brain Injury Round Table. I am your host, Constance Miller, brain injury survivor of more than 30 years and Managing Director of Brain Injury Resource Center, located on the Internet at http://www.headinjury.com. At the suggestion of Mr. Tai Campbell, of Taken Back Our Communities Now, http://www.tbocn.org, tonight’s show will look into the development of heightened feeling states following brain injury. Some such heightened feelings take the form of disturbances in the autonomic nervous system. The resulting condition is known as “hyper-arousal” and describes the effect of injury on things such as heart rate and respiration. Another aspect of heightened feeling states is sometimes seen as psychic or extra sensory abilities and in many instances is seen as a gift. Others in this category might feel undone by the sudden onset of such strange reveries and might find themselves pre-occupied by feelings of uncertainty and anxiety.

It is seldom addressed by members of the profession called upon to make us whole, to take us from the point of being "patients" to being people again. Therefore, tonight  we’re going to take matters into our own hands. We’ll kick it around, swap stories and delve into another of those taboo topics associated with brain injury.

Join us for another exciting and informative episode of Disability Roundtable. thanks to all our listeners for bringing our voices, to your home, your mobile device wherever you are all around the world. Additionally, I’d like to give a big thank you to this show’s sponsors: Martha Marcum, mother of a brain injury survivor and author of MARTHA'S FABLES and Gordon Johnson, attorney of TBI Law.com. Additionally, we look forward to bringing another sponsor Mia Marcum McCoy, brain injury survivor and author of a brain injury book that she will speak with us about on a future episode.
