Author Samuel Marquis joins me to talk the first two of seven books to be released in the next year: The Slush Pile Brigade & Blind Thrust.
On his thirtieth birthday, Nick Lassiter has lost his girlfriend and his job, is wanted by the police, and has discovered that his unpublished thriller, Blind Thrust, has been stolen and turned into a blockbuster movie called Subterranean Storm. Even worse, the movie is based on a soon-to-be best-selling novel by Australian thriller writer Cameron Beckett, one of the world's biggest brand name authors. Rather than seek revenge through a financial settlement or public humiliation, Lassiter sets out for New York to obtain mea culpas from Beckett and his renowned literary agent, whom he is certain colluded with the Aussie in stealing his debut novel. Once in New York, Lassiter, and his three quirky fish-out-of-water friends who insist on accompanying him, instantly run afoul of the law and other powerful forces intent on thwarting them and their mission. As they encounter one thorny obstacle after another, the scope of their inquiries expands and they are soon in way over their heads, battling toe-to-toe not only against the mega-best-selling author and his agent, but a formidable army of antagonists, including the NYPD, Beckett's Big Five publishing house security squad, and the Russian mob. Collectively, these adversaries present Lassiter with the greatest--and deadliest--challenge of his life.

In 1999, I completed an undergraduate degree in Biology. I was pursuing my father’s dream. He is a medical doctor and he wanted me to follow in kind. In my final semester, I took an elective in Economics. It was the first time I was truly excited to be in the classroom. It took some convincing, but I got my father to agree, and let me try an MBA program. Once I walked into a Finance class, my fate was sealed. I had discovered the subject that made me want to learn. I enjoyed finance so much, that I decided to become a doctor anyway. Only I would not be the kind of doctor that treats patients, but rather one that publishes on research and teaches at a university.
I completed a PhD in Finance in 2006 and got a job at a university in Arkansas. It was my goal to leave the small school and state as soon as possible, but 9 years later, I have 15 publications in the fields of Finance and Economics, and I am still here as a tenured professor. Three years ago, when
my wife started law school, I figured that I had some time on my hands, so I decided to write a book.
When they meet, Stephanie thinks Doyle rude, crude, and bossy and while he loves her long legs, he thinks she seems snobbish and cold. However, he feels she has interesting possibilities and she thinks he is a sexy hunk.
Surviving the arsonist set rangeland fire together ignites the passions each has been ignoring. The rugged high desert and mountains of Colorado set the scene for adventure, danger and fiery passions. Can they stay ahead of the arsonist and develop a solid relationship in the bright light of day?
Growing trust in the face of adversity, just how strong is this new relationship. Can each of them get beyond past betrayals and pain? Will the final chapter be a wedding, or a fond farewell?
Riverview is home to Stephanie and now to Doyle. The small Colorado town and its citizens reflect small ranch towns across the United States. The values and closeness of the residents who support each other when times are tough.
Throught the first several weeks I've had a lot of people come on the podcast and give me tips about how to play they mythical "Daily Fantasy Football" games on Fanduel or DraftKings. We got a primer from David Gonos. We got a second course from Levi Serfross and even in talking with Sarah Lewis last week some of our conversation and predictions drifted to the realm of DFS.
I've been taught by the masters so let's see what I have learned. Tonight I'm going to play my first DFS games in a year and you can all tune in to hear my reasoning or to hold me accountable if my team bombs on Sunday.
I'll admit I will always prefer season long leagues but I think it's time i give DFS another chance. And you'll be rising shotgun.
College football season is in full swing, and the AP top 25 rankings have Ohio State and Michigan State ranked one and two respectively. Will your fantasy team be filled with the top players, or are you going to look for some value? There are some tough matchups as we enter week five. Will the top fantasy point produces continue to light up the fantasy score sheet? Last week Troy decided to take the top quarterback, Matt Johnson of Bowling Green and he only produced a modest 27.88 points. Skylar Howard was one of Troy's value picks and produced 28.06 points and was nearly $3,000 less than Johnson. At running back, Leonard Fournette was Troy's "must play" and he did not disappoint with 41.1 points. Who will be the "must play's" this week? Where is the best matchup in college football this week? Listen in and call the show with your thoughts.
Naughty, Naughty, Naughty. This was a very bad month in movies. Between, big bad mama, hell on wheels, and Cleopatra Jones, how bad did you see yourself. These movies really engaged the mind to what independent films are all about creating a moment in place and time. These movies give the viewer an escape to become the fantasy in the film. It gives the chance to see, feel, and think it. Of course some of it we don’t want to act it out. Films give that escape and I will tell you why is good and not so good, along with recapping this months shows. New time! Tune in Sundays at 6:30 pm for movies to love Indie Films. I bet you've been naughty, maybe nice?
