In many ways, America is the land of plenty. But for 1 in 6 people in the United States, hunger is a reality. Many people believe that the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country, or certain neighborhoods, but the reality is much different.
Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days.
It’s time to educate ourselves about the causes of hunger in America. Listen as Andrew Varvoutis describes his work at Grace Klein to feed the hungry!

Jeff Klein presents case studies of how the values of Conscious Capitalism are not only the right thing to do, but are also profitable and create an engaged company culture. At a time when company culture forms such a powerful competitive advantage, engaged employees who are committed to the vision of Conscious Capitalism will become industry leaders. The older exploitative business model is now requiring subsidies and bailouts to stay afloat, and is in contradiction with the values of people and communities. As a result, a business operating on the principles of Conscious Capitalism will overtake that outdated business in the marketplace. Today, we had the pleasure of hearing some simply fascinating information from Mavis Klein, author of Talk Talk: Effective Communication in Everyday Life A bit about Mavis: she has been a psychotherapist for the past 35 years and a counselling astrologer for the past 30 years, specializing in couples' and parent-child relationships. The Side Effects Radio Host interviews Diane Klein author of "In the Name of Help". Is it possible that a stranger could step into another person’s life and take it over completely? Could a stranger gain the legal right to dictate where another person will live and what medical treatment he will be given? Could they then cause that person to be lost for years, or even a lifetime, in an abyss of mental hospitals and board and care facilities?
Author, educator and activist Diane Klein is our guest today on "Side Effects Radio" talking about her book "In the Name of Help" which really serves as a wake-up call to the words ‘Free Country’. If you think you live in a free country where you are free to do as you please, as long as you hurt no one, read this book! Diane Klein does a superb job of demonstrating psychiatry’s role in the prostitution of our justice system but by the end of the book, you can be sure that there is hope, there is help and you can do something about it.
