Deeanne Gist, author of "It Happened at The Fair"
After a short career in elementary education, Deeanne Gist retired to raise her four children. Over the course of the next fifteen years, she ran a home accessory and antique business, became a member of the press, wrote freelance journalism for national publications such as People, Parents, Parenting, Family Fun, Houston Chronicle and Orlando Sentinel, and acted as CFO for her husband’s small engineering firm--all from the comforts of home.Squeezed betwixt-and-between all this, she read romance novels by the truckload and even wrote a couple of her own. While those unpublished manuscripts rested on the shelf, she founded a publishing corporation for the purpose of developing, producing and marketing products that would reinforce family values, teach children responsibility and provide character building activities. Her latest releases, Beguiled, Maid To Match , and Love on the Line are now available.
Gist lives in Texas with her husband of twenty-eight years and their border collie. They have four grown children. Click here to find out the most up-to-the-minute news about Dee.

Guest: Tracy Bowman, Fidos for Freedom
Jim and Jennifer welcome Tracy Bowman with Fidos for Freedom to the show. Tracy has been a volunteer with Fidos since 2001, when her daughter Samantha became a junior volunteer. In 2003, Tracy joined the Fido’s Training Department as an assistance dog trainer. Since that time, Tracy and her family have cared for; puppy raised, and trained many Fidos assistance dogs. Tracy has served on the Fidos Board since 2003 and currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors. Professionally, Tracy has worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 36 years with 24 years’ experience in the application, development, and provisioning of information technology (IT) solutions, systems, and end user support. Tracy has 20 years of leadership and management experience; for the past eight years, she has focused on plant and animal health policy issues, currently leading a team of policy and legal analysts, public communications specialists, and experts in international and intergovernmental affairs. Tracy is married to Brian, a fellow Fidos volunteer. Together, they have one daughter, Samantha, who has served as a Fidos puppy raiser and trainer and is currently working on a clinical doctorate in audiology, no doubt inspired by her work at Fidos with people with hearing loss. Besides the many Fidos dogs in training that have made the Bowman household their home, Brian and Tracy have two dogs of their own: Brody, a 9 year old smooth collie who serves as a Fidos therapy dog and Mischief, a retired 14 year old Pomeranian Fidos therapy dog. In her spare time, Tracy is active in her church, working on its small groups ministry. Website: http://www.fidosforfreedom.org/

Live From Trench Town Kingston Jamaica -Trench Town Vibes
Trench Town is a neighborhood located in the parish of St. Andrew which shares municipality with Kingston, the capital and largest city of Jamaica. In the 1960s Trench Town was known as the Hollywood of Jamaica. Today Trench Town boasts the Trench Town Culture Yard Museum, a visitor friendly National Heritage Site presenting the unique history and contribution of Trench Town to Jamaica. Trench Town is the birthplace of rocksteady and reggae music, as well as the home of reggae and Rastafari ambassador Bob Marley. The neighborhood gets its name from its previous designation as Trench Pen, 400 acres of land once used for livestock by Daniel Power Trench, an Irish immigrant of the 18th century (descendants of the Earls of Clancarty). The
Trench family abandoned the land in the late 19th century. It is a common misconception that the name comes from the large open storm-water drain that runs through the neighbourhood in the middle of Collie Smith Drive. Trench Town is home to the communities of Wilton Gardens [Rema], Federal Gardens, Arnette Gardens [Jungle], Havana, Buckers and others. Trench Town today is also the home of two of Jamaica's top Premier League football club teams, Arnette Gardens and Boys' Town.
