For the Week 5 recap podcast Jeremy is joined by Matthew K. to go over the latest action of Mountain West football. Well, we don't know much more than we did the week prior. Boise State gets outplayed by Air Force, but is it a one-game slip up or have the Broncos fallen of of its perch from being the feared team they have been accustomed to over the past decade.
Besides going through all of the games we attempt to make a decision on who is the best team in the league this year. This year the Mountain West has no clear frontrunners on a collision course to meet in the Mountain West title game, but now there are multiple teams in each division that can make the case to be the best team.
We find ourselves bound and stuck in places that we should have left a long time ago due to fear, uncertianties, being comfortable, etc. That stuck place has caused many to miss out on even the greater because it has kept them out of position to recieve the greater glory of God. It's time to move people of God from what ever mountian you have found yourself being stuck at going around in circles. God has declared thier is much greater for you beyond your mountain. God has also declared that we have the power to move mountains.
Jeremy and Chris go through the nine games of the third week of Mountain West football and discuss the highs and lows of the league so far. We both fell that Boise State is the best team in the league and that Nevada really has a chance to compete in the West.
We go deep into Fresno State to try to figure out what is going wrong with that team. Is it coaching, lack of talent, scheme or just maybe we are holding onto some shred of that Fresno State is still a good team and blame the difficult schedule.
We do get to Chuckie Keeton leaving the first half of the Wake Forest game by re-injuring the same knee that he tore his ACL last year. As of this time there is no update on the status of Keeton's knee.
Jeremy and Chris are back to breakdown a crazy Week 7 of Mountain West play which saw a pair of shocking upsets. The action got going Friday night with UNLV upsetting Fresno State in overtime and then San Diego State doing all they can to give the game up to New Mexico with four straight turnovers in the four quarter.
Utah State proved to once again being a very dominant team by beating Air Force and Nevada can still not play complete game in its loss to Colorado State. We both wonder if Boise State's loss to Air Force and Colorado State's loss to Boise State were more of a one-off game than the norm for these teams. Yet, nothing has been the norm for the Mountain West this year.
Brad Stine is on a mission—a mission to free us all from the chains of political correctness and prevent our eventual ‘wussification.’ From his Nashville stronghold, Stine is mounting his crusade against these hypocrisies, all of which are explored in his highly anticipated 4 album/DVD, aptly titled ‘WUSSIFICATION!’
“You know what offends me?....Offended people,” says Stine. A staunch supporter of first amendment rights and foe of political correctness, Stine asserts that rights should be universally applied. “In a country with guaranteed rights to freedom of religion, its citizens are constantly trying to make faith in public spheres illegal. I am offended by that contradiction and want to talk about it as a comic.” The strength of his conviction about our freedoms can be found in many places on WUSSIFICATION—from “Merry Christmas Too!” (the right to celebrate religion), to “At Least We’re Not France!” (the responsibility to take action as a country), to “Spank” (the ability to discipline our children the way we see fit).
Duck Dynasty star Tim Guraedy is best known to the show’s millions of hard-core fans as “Mountain Man,” the slow-talking air-conditioning repairman/radio host who is a neighbor to the Robertsons, the Louisiana family that made a fortune from its best-selling duck calls, around which the show is based. Mountain Man is the only semi-regular cast member who is not a Robertson family member or employee of Duck Commander.
Jeremy and Chris are back to recap the first week of the Mountain West football season, and of course we know nothing. Not because we are dumb -- well some may think so -- but all of the offseason studying we did seemed to be for naught. The league went 1-5 in FBS games with Colorado State being the lone victor of that group as they beat rival Colorado.
The other half of the games were against FCS foes, and thus it is hard to take a ton out of that and make sense of it.
We discuss how Colorado State and Hawaii are looking to be actual contenders in each respective divison, and that Boise State is not going to go away quietly. Also, Fresno State really could be in a lot of hurt this year after its loss ot USC, and it doesn't help they face Utah and Nebraska in the next few weeks.
Oh, and there was this game we don't really want to mention that happened on Sunday night.
Sit back and enjoy the Week 1 Mountain West football recap.
