John Carver Show - Colin Powell Speech High Point University

    in Self Help

General Colin Powell is a man who has climbed from the bottom.  In his speech he said:

“Find that which you love doing and that which you do well. When you put those two together, you have put into place the roadmap for a successful and satisfying life.”
“We complain a lot today about politics and politicians and often for good reason. But we can’t sit around waiting for superman or superwoman to come in 2014 or 2016. We the people are the supermen and the superwomen. We are the deciders.”
“As you go through life, listen to the other side. Have your eyes and your ears and your heart open to counterviews so we can get back what makes this country great in the political sense – the ability to compromise with each other and not just freeze ourselves on a spectrum of political desire from the right or from the left.”
“Make sure you share the talent and the time and the treasure you have with others who are in greater need than you.”
“If you want to save the world, start by saving just one kid. That’s what it’s all about.”
“As you move on into life, do what you can to reach down, back and across to help a young person stay in school, to help a young person believe, to help a young person to a brighter future.”
“Don’t stand on the sidelines complaining and moaning; speak out and vote. If you’re going to be a responsible citizen in this country, get qualified and make sure that you get registered and vote every single chance you get.”

  • CUTV News Radio spotlights Robin Perry Braun of Integrated Life Strategies

    in Self Help

Dallas, TX – What do you want to see changed in your life? What are the causes of the things you don’t want in your life?

Robin Perry Braun is a licensed professional counselor, certified Emotion Code practitioner and founder of Integrated Life Strategies.

“My ultimate goal is to get people well emotionally, physically, spiritually and teach them how to stay well,” says Robin. “I have a diverse and eclectic toolbox of modalities and I offer coaching along with those modalities because staying well is about staying mindful.”

Robin says her approach is based on the belief that we are each whole and complete and anything that is not working in our life is due to an imbalance, block or misalignment spiritually, physically emotionally, mentally and even nutritionally.

According to Dr. Bradley Nelson, creator of The Emotion Code and Body Code system, the most important source of imbalance is our emotions and belief systems. Belief systems create subconscious blocks. As an Emotion Code practitioner, Robin’s job is to help her clients remove these blocks and teach them to reprogram their subconscious.

“We’re only aware of 10 percent of our thoughts,” explains Robin. “My goal is to identify those beliefs that aren’t serving our life and reprogram them. You’re taking out what’s bad and putting in what’s good. I’ve had tremendous success with my clients. Nine months later, their lives look totally different.”

John Carver Show - Kids NEED Structure - General Colin Powell

    in Self Help

This is a GREAT SPEECH! In his talk from 2013, former Secretary of State Colin Powell shares his personal thoughts on why it's so important to invest in children by giving them structure, responsibility, and a good start in life.  He talks about how today's kids will be the next generation of leaders and he shares how the military helped to shape him into the man and the leader that he is today.

I can't imagine ever seriously asking my kids to stand at attention when the talk to me, but then again, I'm not a General and former world leader.  And I certainly do see his point that our children's education begins well before we send them off to school.

He says: "I want to talk about young people and structure, young people and structure. This was last Wednesday afternoon at a school in Brooklyn, New York, at Cristo Rey High School, run by the Jesuits. And I was talking to this group of students, and take a look at them. They were around me in three directions. You'll noticed that almost all of them are minority. You'll notice that the building is rather austere. It's an old New York school building, nothing fancy. They still have old blackboards and whatnot. And there are about 300 kids in this school, and the school's been going now for four years, and they're about to graduate their first class. Twenty-two people are graduating, and all 22 are going to college. They all come from homes where there is, for the most part, just one person in the home, usually the mother or the grandmother, and that's it, and they come here for their education and for their structure."

This show is full of wisdom!
