In today's episode of GUC we welcome back, Dr. Nicole Kosanke the director of family services at the Center for Motivation and Change.
Previously, Dr. Kosanke was on the show to talk about the book she co-authored titled, Beyond Addiction: How Science And Kindness Help People Change. You can listen to that episode by clicking here.
Dr. Kosanke also visited GUC to discuss CRAFT, an alternative intervention method which teaches families how to encourage the substance user, in their life, to reduce use and enter treatment. You can listen to that episode by clicking here.
But today, Dr. Kosanke is back to give us the low down on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and much more. Think of this episode as your Recovery 101.

In today's show, we will continue our discussion on cognitive dissonance, but with an emphasis on what you either know, but ignore; or what you don't know, but should.
Today, I have as my guests one or more people that are active in the government in the State of Oregon to "reform" the laws and make them much more of what the American forefathers intended - simple and easy for the average person to understand and use.
Last week we opened the phone lines roughly a half hour into the show and we enjoyed our audience participation, so we plan to do so again, so have your questions and comments ready to participate!

Does your thinking sometimes keep you from taking action when you want or when you know you should? Are you ready to shift your thinking and move forward? If yes, you don't want to miss this show. Dr. Pam Love is going to talk about cognitive distortions and how they can negatively impact your relationships and keep you from finishing the things that are in your heart to finish.
This Tuesday evening [in the Americas], we continue with our cognitive dissonance series.
In this program, I'm joined by Chad C. Meek and [hopefully] Michelle Vaughn to discuss the spiritual being which all of us are, but sadly limit. Somewhere deep inside ourselves, we know that we're more than we're allowing ourselves to be, whether our limitations come from how and what we're taught, or just limiting ourselves - for whatever reasons we've accepted. This will be our main topic of the evening, but we won't limit ourselves to only this.
After my guests and I discuss this for 30 to 45 minutes, we'll open the chat, phone and Skype lines for you, the audience to call in with your questions, comments... discussion.
See you then!

WHY DO WE CHEAT ON YOUR WIFE?
WHY DO WE STEAL?
WHY DO WE QUIT OUR JOB?
WHY DO WE DO BAD BEHAVIOR? WHY?
NEXT QUESTION........HOW DO WE STOP DOING THE "BAD" BEHAVIOR
You know that you should exercise, and eat lots of veggies and less fried, salty and sweet foods.
But knowing something and actually doing it are two very different things.
You know you should stop procrastinating. You know you should watch less TV or go to social sites (or news sites, or your email program) less often. You know you should be writing, or learning that language you’ve always wanted to learn, or practicing guitar, or decluttering your house.
Knowing isn’t the problem. It’s the doing that gets us every time.
On this episode of Eating for Meaning, Dr. Millie will have some help in the hot seat with guest host, Health Coach and radio Host Rea Wilke on behavior change and modification. Coach Rea is the founder, CEO, President at YOUR LIFE NOW LLC, a professional coaching and training company.
This show will help you understand what it takes to change your behavior. Start acting like you want to. We are all bombarded with nutritional information but don't necessarily know how to make the changes in order to incorporate them into our lifestyle. We might know what we have to do but can't get around to doing it. Eating for Meaning is a year long nutrition program dedicated to helping you achieve your health goals by changing your relationship to food.
Coach Rea and Dr. Millie will discuss our own belief systems, coaching tips, relationships with food and our health in general.
I hope you can follow this episode of Eating for Meaning.
