Boynton Beach, FL – We need caregivers because our loved ones need care, but the responsibility often takes a personal toll. The goal is to help a loved one to be as happy and peaceful as possible, but caregivers sacrifice their own lives to do so. As a result, it’s not uncommon for caregivers to isolate themselves.
In 2008, the Center for Disease Control issued a report examining caregiving as a public health priority of national concern. The report identified the two most important things caregivers need are respite and emotional support.
perks n moore is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the emotional needs of caregivers. Lead by Sally Moore, perks n moore seeks to empower caregivers by restoring their self-esteem and improving their skills.
“People are usually thrust into the responsibility of caregiving,” says Moore. “Sometimes they get so deep into it that they don’t realize they need help. They need to know they can’t do it alone. They need to know they can reach out to someone.
perks n moore is the result of Moore’s 30-year journey advocating for caregivers across the country. She believes we’re losing caregivers because no one teaches them how to care for themselves. With proper support and education, caregivers can discover the joy, the selflessness and unconditional love of this responsibility.
“I want to validate what caregivers are going through,” says Moore. “I don’t know how many times I wanted to walk away, but that’s part of the process. It’s not something to fear. Caregivers need to know they’re not doing anything wrong, their feelings are normal.
“Even if you don’t live in Boynton Beach, I’m a phone call away to every caregiver,” says Moore. “They can start with me and we can work from wherever they are."

It’s time to move on.”
Sticking with her youth targeted books, Helen is also working on a bedtime children’s book to help kids sleep at night. Helen’s books are wonderfully illustrated and easily relatable to children ages eight and up.
