Winds of Change: The Importance of Clinical Experts As Teachers

    in Health

We appreciate those who fought to make this profession licensed in the United States and who set up the programs in Chinese medicine, making this a valid career path. However, since it's inception in the United States and the West, Chinese medicine has been ruled largely by academics, scholars, anthropologists, and historians. There has been, and continues to be, a paucity of true clinical experts teaching this medicine. This is largley due to the fact that the leaders in this field simply lack the large, consistent patient volume needed to become expert clinicians. Chinese medicine colleges and state organizations are increasingly focused on revenue, administrative in-fighting and clinically irrelevant adademic ponderings. Meanwhile, the quality of clinical education is declining. Graduates enter the real world of managing patients' many health concerns with largely ineffective skill sets, based on theories regurgitated by scholars, most completely lacking adequate pulse diagnosis skills and/or highly effective acupuncture methods. Luckily, there are American and Western Chinese medicine practitioners who are seeing 300-600 patient visits per week who are stepping forward to teach the real life, clinically proven, practical skills so badly needed to not only survive but thrive practicing this medicine. This is medicine, it has real-world consequences and is not a theoretical exercise, people are sick and they depend on us to get them better. The time has come to listen to those on the front lines, making this medicine work everyday.

Nov. 19, 2015, 10pm (PST) - Inuitive Hypnotherapy with Joanna Banka

    in Paranormal

We are delving into the art and the technique of hypnotherapy on Spaced Out Radio. Our guest, Joanna Banka, is a regular on Spaced Out Weekend's Two Mediums and a Large with James Tyson. But in her daytime career, she helps people find answers to questions from within themselves. From Joanna's website, www.joannathemedium.com, we bring a little bit about our guest.

I am an Evidential Spiritual Medium, Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC) and a Registered Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist (RCCH). I am a regular person with normal joys and challenges of life, I just happen to have a gift that seems to come naturally to me.
    jb5

I don’t perform any special rituals and I certainly don’t get rid of “bad spells or curses”, some even say that I don’t look anything like someone who can talk to the dead (but then I am not sure what that would look like anyway). I don’t have a halo around me, and I don’t wear ritual jewelry or special clothes that make me stand out, the only thing that might be a little different is that I hear, see and feel Spirit, both people and animals (yes, animals do seem to like to communicate through me).

My mediumship ability is an amazing gift that revealed itself while I was going through my own life’s challenges and while working with my clients in my private practice at Vancouver Counselling and Hypnotherapy. Although it took me a while to fully embrace and trust this amazing gift, my responsibility lies in acknowledging that what comes naturally to me is in fact a calling, to serve as a messenger for the Spirit world.

    Enjoy your stay!

    FranFriedman

    in Music

Fran Friedman (Frankie) has been a bassist for several decades.  She was a full time player in the 70’s, when live bands filled the clubs 7 nights a week.  She went back to school in the early 1980’s and became a clinical psychologist, but continued playing in local clubs in Cleveland, OH. While her roots and first love are in the blues, Fran has enjoyed playing a variety of classic rock, R&B, and pop, along with high energy blues throughout the years. After relocating to Florida in 2012, she connected with the local blues scene and became the bass player at a Saturday night blues jam in Lauderhill.  Always interested in connecting with and promoting other female players, she started a Facebook group South Florida Women in Music as a free forum for local women musicians to promote their events. Her company, Breakout Productions produced a sold-out event called Three Diva Night, highlighting several of South Florida’s female performers, including Mary Jane Cunningham, Sistah Mary Beth, and Rachelle Coba, whom she backed with Frankie’s Backline Blues Band. Currently, she has a new projects, including another Diva night in 2016.  Fran welcomes female singers, instrumentalists, songwriters, and those who support them to join South Florida Women in Music on Facebook to grow a thriving community for local women in music.  Promote yourself shamelessly!
