Donna reunites with elementary school friend, Audrey, who believes Donna must chase clean air in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Find out why as we explore this quaint town on the banks of the Huron River with a creative community pushing sustainability; a scant 6 miles from the world-renowned University of Michigan and 25 miles from the world's automotive center, Detroit.
Our honored guest will be clean air hero, Dave Strenksi, Founder of SolarYpsi. Dave and a loose group of volunteers are designing and installing solar installations around town with the intention of making Ypsilanti a "solar destination". (And he's not the one calling from Los Angeles!) I'm looking forward to Dave's contribution to our show, and hope you'll be inspired to take action toward cleaner air in your community, too!

Donna Barnett's Chasing Clean Air Season 1, Episode 5 continues the search for clean air by sharing one of America's great untold stories!
The Yokuts lived in paradise, peacefully co-existing with one another, the land and waterways of the San Joaquin Valley and lower Sierra Nevada foothills. For thousands of years this gentle culture of cohesive families and tribelets showed respect for nature. And then the Europeans came. How the Tachi-Yokut Native Americans lived and survived to thrive is our story. We'll learn lessons from Nature's front, the realities of Spanish missionaries and California's first governor who advocated extermination of Native Americans to today's Governor Brown nominating a Tribal Advisor to his administration. Respecting Nature's laws then & now, the Yokuts survival story & their traditions are important.
Honored Guest: Lalo Franco, Director of Cultural and History Preservation Dept of Tachi-Yokut Tribe; one of largest tribes in the USA
