    Barry Jakel is back! This time he will talk about his latest book and more!

    Join Sonia Nadina and Barry Jakel in conversation. Barry has published his latest book, Birth , Death, and as the Crow Flies. He is also excited about the NSWA's latest anthology release, Fuse. 


    Born in Calgary Alberta in 1948, Barry now resides on Vancouver’s North Shore. His career path included early stops in Ottawa and Calgary before beginning his goal to become a broadcaster with seventeen years in radio as an announcer and writer. It all began in 1970 with a move to 100 Mile House in British Columbia’s Cariboo Country and before it was over, his journeys took him to Quesnel, Kelowna, Vernon, and finally Vancouver’s lower mainland where he ended his broadcasting days. Barry has recently retired, after twenty-three enjoyable and memorable years in sales and marketing with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Always an optimist, (after all, he is a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan) he is now exploring new horizons with his special life partner Maria by his side. 


    Barry is also author of Excuse me! Your sun is in my shadow, Follow The Heron's Flight Home and his latest Birth, Death and, as the Crow Flies. You can find his books on Blurb

    Talking Motorcycles with Roger Hayden and Jake Lewis

    Breaking this week is the news that Roger Hayden has resigned with the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Team with a new 2 year contract. Roger continues to be a threat to win races and championships. Could this be the year for Roger to win the AMA Superbike Championship. We get his thoughts in this edition of Talking Motorcycles.


    2015 will be the biggest year yet for Jake Lewis. He has signed a two year contract to ride the Yoshimira Suzuki Factory Superbike! It is a big step up from the 600 he has ridden in the past. Is he ready for the challenge?  What is his strategy? What are his goals for his first season in AMA Superbike?

    Claudja Barry, making her mark for Black History Month

    The film looks at the impact DANCEHALL Music is having on the society of Jamaica and Canada. There is a lot of music and many interviews with psychologists, doctors, politicians composers,education specialists, media personalities, and musicians. It gives a insight into how this type of music compares to the "ONE LOVE" reggae from Bob Marley.Dancehall is the followup of reggae, but not in such a positive and uplifting way. 
    In the high turnover world of the music industry, Claudja Barry has displayed the staying power of a true star. Her debut hit on the Donna Jean Label “I will stand” reached number one on the Billboard Dance Charts in 2006. With her latest hit “Good Time Girl” (Indaba Records) Claudja is back and burning up the dance floors across the globe adding to the latest chapter in her long and illustrious international career. Her first single was “Sweet Dynamite”(Salsoul) , her most recent chart hit “I will stand” (Donna Jean). Glamorous , multilingual, and highly travelled, Claudja Barry has sung in some of the world’s best venues – among them, Studio 54,The Saint (NYC), The Palace (Paris),Budakan Hall where she won the Silver Prize at the Tokyo Music Festival (Coming in second only to Dionne Warwick).  The Verona Arena (Italy) Backstreet (Atlanta) and the Rainbow in London. She is an artiste whose stage presence, longevity, and performances have been noted and appreciated not only in the arena of pop/club music, but also in theatre –Claudja Barry is also an accomplished actress. 
    Claudja is shooting a video to coincide with the release of her new cd. She is also the Producer of a Documentary film on the Music of Jamaica.
