New Jersey’s Bad Boy of Comedy, Mike Marino, is back in the Garden State for a very special night of comedy on May 1st at Scotch Plains Fanwood High School. That's right – one minute you’re performing at The Borgata and on HBO, and the next you’re back at your old high school! This comedy headliner and inductee of the NJ Comedy Hall of Fame, is treating his high school to a night of comedy to benefit The Scotch Plains Fanwood Ice Hockey Association. This is a great opportunity to enjoy an evening of laughter and pure fun with Mike Marino. If you’ve seen Mike perform, you know the laughter is non-stop with his spot-on observations of life and his Italian family – which will naturally remind you of your family. Mike can easily alter his material to make it suitable for all audiences, from strictly clean to down and dirty – what he’ll offer his fans from Scotch Plains is anybody’s guess right now! This Jersey City native has performed in every major comedy club from NY to LA including The MGM Grand, Catch a Rising Star, The Comic Strip, Stand Up NY, The Improv, Rascals and The Icehouse. Mike can be seen nightly as a top headliner at both the world famous Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store in Hollywood. After great success in film, theatre, commercials and soaps, Mike began touring the country performing at countless comedy clubs and sold out theatres in the thousands. His Italian family was recently spun into a TV pilot called Marino’s. His comedic style has landed him guest appearances on The Tonight Show as a regular sketch player, The Martin Short Show, Comics Unleashed, The Boomer Show, Wild Pitch, Hand Held Comedy Radio and the Rascals Comedy Hour to name a few. After the interview, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

This installment of The Forbidden Fruit will look at the subtle affect of white privilege on Black America. With the current social unrest moving throughout the country, the opinions are racially divided. Some people are quick to address the riots as an isolated incidents and not the by-product of a much bigger and more complex problem. How can you ask Black America to forget the past, suck it up and move on? The past is the past, so leave it there..right? Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Subtle White Privilege can be more dangerous than in your face racism. We all need to get along, but at the same time, we have to understand our differences. It's politically correct to say that you don't see color, but is that healthy? Let's address this issue head-on and not just let it fester. There has been a lot of hurt that has been swept under the rug. That rug is getting awfully bumpy.
What white america is asking black america to do, is like an angry mob breaking into your house, rapping the women, beating the men, stealing all the valuables in the house, then setting it on fire, and then a week later showing up and asking you to just don't ever mention it again and suck it up and move on. Yes, you can suck it up and move on, but some very important steps are missing. The attacker never owned up to it, nor did he apologize, nor did he offer to make it right economically. He just expected you to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, when you didn't have any boots to start with. I think we need this talk here on The Fruit.

This week, kim thompson, Stoker, and Kevin Vollmers discuss microaggressions, in particular microaggressions in the racism vein. Some questions they'll ponder and topics they'll discuss:
Are racials microaggressions actually microaggressions or are they flat out racist?
Do White people use the term microaggressions to get a pass, as in, "Oops! I wasn't being racist. I meant no harm. I realize that was a microaggression."
White privilege and White suppremacy.
Tune in and join the conversation on Wednesday, April 29th, 7:00 am Minneapolis time/9:00 pm Seoul time.
