Join host Kristyn and her producer Paula on the letter of courage & activism from Rena Mackert!!!
Excerpts from the letter:
"My name is Rena Mackert. I am a child of polygamy and a former member of what became the FLDS. I am a seventh generation polygamist, the sixth born into it, on my mother's side of the family. My fourth great-grandfather, Isaac Allred, was on the first High Council of the Mormon Church."
"In July, 1976 my assigned husband, my step-brother, announced he wanted nothing to do with polygamy or the FLDS. The prophet, at that time, (Leroy Johnson,) told me to divorce him. About six months later I was summoned to his office. I was ordered to marry the prophet's brother. I refused. I was ordered to submit to his authority, to 'keep sweet... Again I refused. During this meeting he contradicted religious doctrine at least four times. When I told him that Father had been molesting me, he said I was a liar and had the spirit of apostasy. Those words changed my life forever. I knew he was a fraud. "
"I truly believe that decriminalizing polygamy would set human rights and civil rights for women and children in Utah back 100 years. We might as well bring slavery back.
Polygamy is a felony and should remain so."
Troy Bowles grew up in a polygamous family. At age 17 he stopped participating in the religion. After spending some time in the US Navy, he returned to Utah and got involved in political activism. He busied himself writing his story and telling of the ethical problems he saw within polygamous society.
Today's show will cover the need for radical forgiveness, revolutionary sacred activism, and the perfect archetypes for Conscious Evolution as understood by your host, Rev. Cassandra Martin. Additionally, she will begin to discuss why Spirituality is changing during the twenty-first century. This show will begin a series of shows over the next few months because Rev. Cassandra is taking an on-line course with Andrew Harvey, founder of the Institute for Sacred Activism, which continues through seven modules during the month of April and ending in May. As she is inspired, and processes this new look at Sacred Activism, she will share with you her personal transformations.
Over the past two years, while she completed her book, The "Multiple You" Universe, Rev. Cassandra noticed that her point of view was expanding and her desire to participate in global activism was inspiring her to listen deeply to the sacred inner voice again. She began a new series of envisioning, part of her Mystic heritage. In order to move beyond her original idea of what her personal service might be on behalf of the world, it meant that she would need to engage her radical nature again. Andrew Harvey came to her attention after she had joined two groups to work with subtle energy. Andrew Harvey's approach has never been subtle.
Stay tuned to this channel each month to see what is in store for the Reverend as she breaks free, and activates her vision of a 24-hour global event to shift the energy on earth -- the event she has spoken of over the past three months: One Focus, Billions of Voices, Affirmations to Change the World. As people assume the power of their archetypes, engage in heartfelt sacred activism, and utilize the powerful shift in conscious evolution that is available to everyone during this century, peace prepares to descend upon us through the grace of God, indwelling.

Morénike Onaiwu is a national advocate doing work on two important fronts. She is an Autistic Advocate and a Healthcare Activist for HIV positive women, children and families. Morénike has an active petition on over on change.org to keep the Ryan White Aids funding intact, as it is in jeopardy of being eliminated.
It's interesting how much the autism and aids communities have in common. In both, there are parallels: first, the two appear quite different; yet, both are stigmatized, and are harmed more by people's inaccurate perceptions of their diagnoses than the actual diagnoses itself.
Both have parent advocates speaking for people with the diagnoses instead of letting people speak for themselves. And with both, the groups that are forgotten, too often get left out (adult Autistics get less services than Autistic children; "high-risk" HIV+ subgroups get more funding than women and children, etc.)
