    Chelle is an author, a blogger, an activist, nutritionist and the Chief Fun Officer of Food. She has spent a lifetime debunking the “common thoughts” and mistakes that people make concerning food, food choices and food lifestyles.

    So, what do we really know about what to eat? Most of us just follow whatever are the most popular regimes, fad diets or whatever “the experts” or media says is the best for us, right? That’s what I used to do too. I was an exercise expert but not a food expert or nutritionist, but I knew enough to know I didn’t know anything.

    Do You Have The Wrong Attitude?

    Are you a person who rushes to judgment, overreacts, or gives up too soon?  Do you worry about things that you can't control?  If so, you may have a wrong attitude.

    Attitude is the way we look at the world  It's our expectations and beliefs.  Our attitudes come from our opinions.  Opinions come from thoughts.  So, if you have wrong thinking, you can pretty well bet you have a wrong attitude.  For many of us, this is just the way we are!  But you weren't born with your attitude, you learned it.  And you can change it.  You just have to make the choice to change.  

    According to research by Robert Half International, seven out of every 10 fired employees were fired because of their inability to get along with someone else in the workplace...usually more than one someone else.  Many times it's their boss!

    Do You Know Yourself?

    One of your biggest competitive advantages is knowing yourself.  The more you are able to understand yourself, the better equipped you are to deal with issues and problems on a daily basis, especially those that take you out of your comfort zone.  Self-knowledge allows you to change any of your own inhibiting actions and unleash your creative abilities.

    Personal growth can be difficult. it requires us to evaluate where we are and whether or not things are working in our lives.  If they aren't working, we need to change.  And, managing change can be stressful whether we instigated it or it has been created by an external force.  Being cognizant of this and strategically planning the change for personal growth are both critical factors to a successful outcome.

    Most human beings are uncomfortable with uncertainty.  They resist change.  They insist on doing things the old way.  When this happens, it can produce stagnation and limit growth. People often resist anything that requires effort.  Given the choice of doing something that requires little effort or doing something that is difficult, most people opt for the easy.

    What about you?  Do you make the practice of self-evaluation a habit?  It's surprising that only a small percentage of people actually self-evaluate.  You can greatly improve your effectiveness when you know yourself. Have you changed?  Are you trying to be the way you've always been?  Or, are you looking for new and different ways to do things.
