Stephen concluded his "defense" by accusing his accusers of: hard heartedness, closed ears and resisting the Holy Spirit. They were guilty of imitating their fathers. Just like the fathers had persecuted and killed the prophets (who promised Jesus), now they had murdered the One whom those prophets promised and they were persecuting the followers of their Messiah. He further accused them of trampling on the very word they embraced as "heaven-sent."
With an intensity of rage that can never be found in a godly man they assailed Stephen, dragged him out of the city and bludgeoned him to death with heavy stones. Saul watched.
This murder was like punching a hole in a dam. All the pent up rage and fury at this new "movement" came out in a torrent, sweeping away lives and property. God's people suffered great loss: families were torn apart and survivors were scattered from home, property and loved ones.
If God truly loves His people, how could He let this happen?
Many of us know that we are living in the end times, because we can see signs of the times all around us.
And one of those signs that's growing more and more prevalent is the persecution of Christians, so stay tuned to learn how to prepare for persecution!
We will look at: 1. The reason for Persecution, 2. The result of Persecution and finally 3. Our godly response to Persecution

Who are the Chaldean Christians? They are our brothers and sisters in Christ, what say you??
For the first time in 2,000 years, there are no Christians in Mosul. What will become of other Iraqi Christians? A Christian Holocaust is in our mist. We are actually calling this a Christian genocide… Day by day, it is getting worse and worse. More children are being beheaded. Mothers are being raped and killed. Fathers are being hung. Right now, 300,000 Christians are fleeing Iraq and living in neighboring cities.”
Christians have become a form [of] currency in this tragedy… I know of one priest who was kidnapped for two months … they asked for a ransom of $120,000, which the family managed to raise and deliver. … But hours later, the priest was killed and his body cut up, with pieces of him sent in a box to the family.
The Islamic State terror group has distributed online photos of three women believed to be kidnapped Assyrian Christians, warning that if a ransom is not paid for their freedom, the women will be turned into sex slaves.
Tens of thousands of Iraqi Christians who have fled the Islamic State terror group to neighboring countries such as Jordan have said they are stuck in limbo, with nowhere to go and limited ways to provide a living. Pope Francis has condemned the world's silence on the issue, while an Iraqi archbishop has said that Christians in the region are hated because they want to keep hold of their faith.
