When there are styles and systems that are complete and superiorly effective, why do so many Acupuncturists and Chinese Medicine practitioners not focus and develop proficiency in any one, instead choosing to dabble in several different systems? Focus and discipline are especially important in our field, but are particularly lacking. In this episode we discuss the complicating factors in our field, including the role academics and desperation play in preventing focus, ambition, and excitement, as well as lack of clinical proficiency.
In this episode, we discuss our week in the clinic, difficult cases, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and more!
Practitioners are encouraged to call in with questions on difficult cases, and the general public can call in to find out how Acupuncture and Chinese medicine can help them!

2 TIMOTHY 3: 11, 12
(11)Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Ico-ni-um, at Lys’-tra; what persecutions I endured; but out of them all, the Lord delivered me.”
Three of THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPONS WE HAVE AGAINST THE ENEMY IS FOUND IS PRAYER, PRAISE, AND THE WORD OF GOD; but today we will look our relationship between PERSECUTION, THE WORD, THE CROSS, AND THE CROWN.
Are you suffering persecution for the name of Jesus Christ?
Have you ever, or are you now suffering persecution for the NAME of Jesus Christ? If your answer is no, then you want to hear this message, because it means you need to re-examine your walk with Jesus Christ. Persecution will come, when are a servant of Jesus Christ. If WE are not, nor have ever suffered persecution for the name of Jesus Christ, then WE ALL need to re-examine yourselves, because: "All that will live Godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution." 2 Timothy 3: 11, 12
Joining me is the Kinler Family, an American Veteran family who had the unfortunate experience of being in homes that contained Toxic Chinese Drywall.
They are here to share their story to BRING AWARENESS TO THE PUBLIC of how serious the effects are not only to one's health but the damage this also created in other areas of their lives; including financially.
They are not alone in their plight, many others have experienced similar fates- it is just not talked about on the mainstream media, silently brushed under the proverbial "rug".
The Kinler Family went above and beyond reaching out to those in authority who should have done something about it, i.e. the Insurance Companies, Politicians
Yet none of these SUPPOSED leaders answered their call for help.
I have come to realize that it is "WE THE PEOPLE" who must come together to CREATE THE CHANGE we wish to see.
For more information on Chinese Drywall, see here:
"Voices from the Wall- The Chinese Drywall Import Disaster"-
Here is a video of a daughter of the Kinler Family when she was 9 years old sharing her thoughts on how Chinese Drywall affected her and her family:

An Aquarius New Moon is about fresh starts and next chapters we can launch into with aspirations, friends, groups, the internet, astrology, charities, gatherings, our freedom, and original ideas and inventions. It's our big cosmic push over the next 2 weeks to seed ideas and motivate about these themes so that they may continue to grow over the year ahead. On the same day the Chinese New Year of the Monkey kicks in and begins to usher in themes related to this particular year that I will discuss with you on the show. In the middle of that we also have some very positive alignments occurring that should make you happy to be in this week. So tune in and see how your sign fares!
We appreciate those who fought to make this profession licensed in the United States and who set up the programs in Chinese medicine, making this a valid career path. However, since it's inception in the United States and the West, Chinese medicine has been ruled largely by academics, scholars, anthropologists, and historians. There has been, and continues to be, a paucity of true clinical experts teaching this medicine. This is largley due to the fact that the leaders in this field simply lack the large, consistent patient volume needed to become expert clinicians. Chinese medicine colleges and state organizations are increasingly focused on revenue, administrative in-fighting and clinically irrelevant adademic ponderings. Meanwhile, the quality of clinical education is declining. Graduates enter the real world of managing patients' many health concerns with largely ineffective skill sets, based on theories regurgitated by scholars, most completely lacking adequate pulse diagnosis skills and/or highly effective acupuncture methods. Luckily, there are American and Western Chinese medicine practitioners who are seeing 300-600 patient visits per week who are stepping forward to teach the real life, clinically proven, practical skills so badly needed to not only survive but thrive practicing this medicine. This is medicine, it has real-world consequences and is not a theoretical exercise, people are sick and they depend on us to get them better. The time has come to listen to those on the front lines, making this medicine work everyday.
We discuss acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments with other practitioners around the country, while also fielding calls from people with questions on how TCM can help them. Colleagues are encourages to call with difficult cases to discuss treatment strategies, while the general public can call in with questions on specific health concerns and how Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture can help them.

Amy Alkon HumanLab -- The Science Between Us, a weekly show with the luminaries of behavioral science.
*"Best Of" replay. On tonight’s show, science gets together with ancient Chinese philosophy, and it likes what it finds.
Dr. Edward Slingerland, an internationally renowned Chinese philosophy expert, draws on both cutting-edge science and ancient Chinese strategies to show how our modern Western approach of striving our guts out doesn’t seem to lead to success or happiness.
In fact, he observes, it seems that getting practiced enough in something that it comes naturally is the way to avoid forcing things in the moment (which is actually counterproductive to succeeding).
Dr. Slingerland will talk about this, how achieving that sort of effortlessness is the way to personal charisma, and much more on tonight’s show. His book he’ll be discussing is “Trying Not To Try: The Art And Science of Spontaneity.” Join us and see how we can better our work, relationships, and lives -- if we can just get out of our own way.
Join me and all my fascinating guests every Sunday, 7-8 p.m. PT, 10-11 p.m. Eastern Time, at blogtalkradio.com/amyalkon or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher.
