Sharon Carpenter is an award-winning broadcast journalist, host and producer who serves as the co-creator of and a cast member on the new VH1 hit reality show, “The Gossip Game”. Carpenter has built a stellar reputation through her on-air work at the BBC, CBS, Black Entertainment Television (BET), WPIX and hip-hop mogul, Russell Simmons’ news and entertainment website GlobalGrind. Originally from England, Carpenter moved to the United States to study at Pace University in New York City and graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a BBA degree in business management. The daughter of two doctors (and former Harvard Medical School professors), Carpenter first gained international attention through her work as an anchor and reporter for BET News and a contributing correspondent for the BBC News program BBC World News America. Throughout her career, Carpenter has interviewed a diverse list of A-list subjects including Oprah Winfrey, Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Lindsay Lohan, Will Smith, Julianne Moore, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Johnny Depp, Mayor Cory Booker and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. With a focus primarily on pop-culture — distilling the latest in both mainstream entertainment and cutting-edge trends, Carpenter is also known for her coverage of international issues, financial news and politics. When rapper Wyclef Jean announced his plans to run for president of Haiti in 2010, Carpenter scored his first television interview, which ran on BBC outlets across the globe. In her live coverage of 2008’s historic presidential election, Carpenter provided expert commentary and analysis from Senator John McCain’s headquarters.
Our guests are Dr. Raymond Moody, author of the classic “Life After Life” that introduced the phenomenon of the near-death-experience’ to the mainstream, and David Hinshaw, the producer of the new video series of conversations between Dr. Moody and people who have had near death and other experiences that offer profound insights into the ultimate human questions.
Their first film features a conversation with neurosurgeon Dr. Eben Alexander, author of the runaway bestseller ‘Proof of Heaven’. The conversation of these two medical doctors advances the discussion to a whole new level, as they consider science, quantum physics, the question of the soul and the possibility of the eventual combination of science and spirituality as partners rather than adversaries.
