Childrens Views - Witness Episode 2

    in Environment

Childrens views and thoughts on the enviroment are very important on Natures Talk Show. In the second airing of our new series Witness, on Wednesday November 4th, please join me as I interview Talon Blottin along with his father Mark and my own daughter, Madison, to discuss how these youngsters feel about the state of our environment.  In our first episode, I interviewed my father and father-in-law and got their perspective.  Now it’s time to see what the newest generation sees as our most pressing problems, what they are learning in schools, and what they are personally doing to help out the environment.

I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing these two on the show before and look forward to getting them together on Wednesday night.  I’m interested to see the perspective of our youth on important environmental issues, and ask them not only what they think, but what they are exposed to in school and at home in regards to recycling, climate change, and other environmental issues.

Along with the kids, I expect to have a good exchange with Mark, Talons dad as to what we as parents perceive as the threats to our environment, as well as our role in educating our kids.  As parents, we are ultimately responsible for the content and understanding of the kids, as well as ensuring that our actions and inactions do not reflect directly or indirectly on the kids.  Our own environmental ethics can weigh heavily on them, and the decisions we make can affect them for years to come.

So join us on Wednesday night at 9 PM EST on November 4th on Witness. Remember, we are all witness to what is happening around us, it’s up to each of us to become participants.  So participate by tuning in to the discussion and join in by calling into out show line or on our web page discussion board Wednesday night.

The Author Chat Show with Lynda D. Brown

    in Books

Author Tiffany Campbell joins us to discuss her book, Scared of Beautiful. This is Tiffany's first appearance on the Author Chat Show.

    About the book:

To be an aspiring photographer, the thought of beauty strikes fear in a young Bobbi Cochran; a fear that had paralyzed her since losing her love to her very best friend. Her world became dark, the hatred she felt in her heart plaguing her relationships with people and even the view she had of herself. Needing a fresh start, she relocates to California where a collision with a young and equally fearful Donovan McCall, changes the course of her life forever. Love was a word and an emotion that was non-existent in Donovan's world. He lived the selfish lifestyle of a young entrepreneur, owning a tattoo shop in West Hollywood. Women were magnets to his good looks, success and charm making it easy to maneuver around any emotion before it turned into something more. Women were disposable. He was never challenged, and when he was , she was replaced. It isn't until he runs into a rude Bobbi Cochran, that everything he had become so accustomed to turned foreign. Love and the art of it all was something both wanted to devour into but the fear of the beauty within was holding them back. Will they let go and allow love to take control? What are they so afraid of?

    About the author:

Tiffany Campbell is a 25 year old author, born and raised in Columbus, OH. Starting fresh with her first novel, Scared of Beautiful, she intends to provide relatable and enjoyable reads for young African American adults. About the author:

The greatest joy of writing for me is the journey. Other writers know what I mean. You start with an idea and you watch it grow and change along the way. Just like a Bonsai tree grow and takes shape. As the author you prune off what is not needed and guide this idea till it takes its final shape as a book. I also get buzz when someone says my writing was able to help them in some way.

My Journey, His Plan with author Sharon Shymansky Roberts

Sharon Roberts is a sixty-something woman just coming out of the closet where would-be authors live. Fear of failure and rejection had kept her hidden all these years, but a wonderful group of women at her church and an amazing group of talented authors on the Grand Strand helped bring her into the light! She is a shining example that you are never too old to follow your dreams! As the commercial says, "Just do it!"

Born in Washington, DC, Sharon spent most of her younger years in Prince Georges County, but went away to college and, in the interim, met a wonderful man from a small island in Southern Maryland. Eventually, they married and raised three sons on that island that she still calls the home of her heart. Though God called him home after only 26 years of marriage, he and God conspired to bring a second man into her life. They have been married 15 years. Two years ago they retired and moved to Pawleys Island, SC. There's just something about island life!

Now, Sharon, her husband Dan, their two aussie doodles Cody and Cassie, and their love bird Piper all live peacefully in the idyllic place near the surf and sand. It is there where Sharon found her voice, and got the courage to write for Him, hoping in some small way her words touch someone and help them on their journey through life.
