    Obesity - An Epidemic Affecting Children and Adults

    in Health

    Quoting the American Psychological Association; Excess weight and obesity in childhood and adolescence has become a serious public health concern in the United States. The “obesity epidemic” has particularly exploded in the last 25 years. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the prevalence of obesity has more than doubled among children ages two to five (5 percent to 12.4 percent) and ages six to 11 (6.5 percent to 17 percent). In teens ages 12 to 19, prevalence rates have tripled (5 percent to 17.6 percent).

    This has significant implications for the life expectancy of obese youth who are likely to experience higher rates of hypertension, elevated cholesterol, and Type 2 diabetes than their parents. This may be the first generation to have a shorter life expectancy than the one immediately before them. There is some encouraging news that growth in childhood obesity prevalence has slowed in recent years, however serious efforts are still required to fully reverse the trend.

    From a study in West Virginia - According to the National Institutes of Health, obesity and overweight together are the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States, close behind tobacco use. An estimated 300,000 deaths per year are due to the obesity epidemic.

    So what can be done? Listen in and find out...

    Salvery-From women forced into prostitution, children and adults forced to work

    in Culture

    What is modern slavery?

    Slavery did not end with abolition in the 19th century.

    The practice still continues today in one form or another in every country in the world. From women forced into prostitution, children and adults forced to work in agriculture, domestic work, or factories and sweatshops producing goods for global supply chains, entire families forced to work for nothing to pay off generational debts; or girls forced to marry older men, the illegal practice still blights contemporary world.

    According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) around 21 million men, women and children around the world are in a form of slavery.

    There are many different characteristics that distinguish slavery from other human rights violations, however only one needs to be present for slavery to exist. Someone is in slavery if they are:

    forced to work - through mental or physical threat;
    owned or controlled by an 'employer', usually through mental or physical abuse or the threat of abuse;
    dehumanised, treated as a commodity or bought and sold as 'property';
    physically constrained or has restrictions placed on his/her freedom of movement.

    Contemporary slavery takes various forms and affects people of all ages, gender and races.

    Adults lie cheat & steal for themselves...the children become the pawns & dead.

    in Current Events

    All of the problems in the world of the making of the adults and ultimately the children are the ones to bear the brunt of the suffering and your thoroughly disgusted host thinks all the adults need to find a way out of the mess they created and the children are forced to suffer with their stupidity...that seems fair?  We bomb them, use them as shilds, throw them away, traffic them for sex, kidnap and rape them all for the betterment of some ridiculous political cause that invariably means nothing in the "big" picture.  And with this fiascdo of biblical proportions, where's God?   We really could use him...NOW!  But he's nowhere to be found.

    Are Mothers Responsible When Their Children Disrespect Other Adults?

    in Women

    Ethics and morals are taught in the home. Whether parents believe in "corporal punishment" or not, children need to be instilled with respect for adults. There have been many studies about the effect of absent fathers on the behavior of children. But mothers are the first teachers, and the most powerful method of teaching is through demonstration. What are children learning from their mothers about how to talk to other adults? What are women really teaching their children when they disrespect other women? What are they teaching children when they put down the children's fathers? American children get spankings, school suspensions and all kinds of punishment, yet they are the more disrespectful of adults than any other culture. The mother is the moral foundation of the society. Are mothers responsible when children are disrespectful to other adults? What should women do to correct the situation? Pastor Jean Lockett discusses her and her husbands family ministry and the common issues that women struggle with as they raise children.s

    Ghosts of Children

    in Paranormal

    It has always amazed me how ghosts of children can exist. It seems as though they would be exempt from the prison of being earthbound after death, but apparently they're not. We will explore this very troubling reality on the next show.

    Prayers for Children

    in Religion

    Teaching our children how to pray is a part o a vital foundation that will prove to be something they will be thankful or.

    Prayer must be taught to our children with a purpose.  Join us as we study the prayers of Paul, Jesus and others  in the  bible  and learn to use their words as a model for your own prayers.  We will personalize them for ourselves and for others and pray them for amazing results. We will also look at the prayers of King David in the book of Psalms. Andrew Murray says " True prayer, that takes hold of God's strength, that availeth much, to which the gates of heaven are really opened wide-who would not cry, 'Oh, for someone to teach me thus to pray'?" He concludes, "Jesus has opened a school, in which He trains His redeemed ones, who specially desire it, to have power in prayer."  Prepare to take your prayer life to the next level as we pray the word of God. Your prayer life will be transformed.  Tell a friend and join us for the discussion on prayer.

    What Can Teens and Young Adults Do To Stop Police Brutally?

    in Social Networking

    What makes police officers and the government powerless? When the American people know their rights!

    Police officers don't like to hear these words:

    "Am I free to go?"

    "I don't consent to a search."

    "I'm going to remain silent."

        You have rights during a traffic stop or any police encounter. Learn what your rights are and use them before you loose them!

    1. Safety - When being pulled over pull over to a safe place, turn off your ignition, stay in the car and keep your hands on the steering wheel. At night turn on the interior light. Keep your license, registration and proof of insurance close by like in your "sun visor."

     Immediately roll your window down all the way. Not half way, not an inch so you can speak through the crack. All the way. Among other things, it will show that you have nothing to hide.

     Be courteous, stay calm, smile and don't complain. Show respect and say things like "sir and no sir." Never bad-mouth a police officer, stay in control of your words, body language and your emotions. Keep your hands where the police officer can see them. Never touch a police officer and never run away!
