Wedding Décor with Chestnuts and The Tuileries

    in Romance

Please join us as we continue to explore the design and décor process. This week we dive into flowers and break down for you what that means. What you should be looking for in a florist. How many you should meet with. What you should expect their role to be. And finally give you first hand access to one of New York's finest, Emily Pinon, founder of Chestnuts and The Tuileries as she joins us on the show to talk about décor from her perspective. Emily has been designing flowers for weddings, hotels, corporate events and countless other occasions in New York City for over a decade and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her on the show.

    The Bully Effect

    in Family

    Gilbert Ohanian, Author of "Chestnuts"

Is there a bully in your life that you don’t know how to deal with? I had one too. It prompted me to write ‘Chestnuts: A True Story About Being Bullied,’ a book outlining practical strategies for defending against bullies and resolving the onflict and aggression that often plagues victims of bullying. Inside these pages, I will take you through my own harrowing journey with bullies – from boarding school beat-ups, to violent attacks from crazed skinheads on the streets of London, to bullies in public school in America. In each chapter a reflection of my personal story will show you what I did wrong, and how you can actually defend yourself in this modern day and age. Find out: * How bullying is perceived by bullies, victims, parents and teachers * What goes on in the mind of a bully, and what you can do about it * How authority figures often make bullying even worse * The steps you can take to defend yourself, find help and heal from the trauma In ‘Chesuts: A True Story About Being Bullied,’ you will find out how to deal with psychological, emotional and physical bullying – and even what to do when one of your teachers is being a bully. Get this book now, and empower yourself to stand against the tyranny that oppresses you!

Forum to discuss "The Latino Political House is Divided

    in Business

Leaders of La Coordinadora 2014 (The National Coordinating Committee for Fair and Humane Immigration Reform) claim that the Latino electorate is divided due to the Democratic Party's desperate gamble to protect control of the Senate, and pressured Obama’s delay of his promised “executive action on immigrants by the end of summer”.

In a controversial declaration published on September 23, 2014 by the National Institute for Latino Policy, they declare on behalf of La Coordinadora 2014, that:
“Dolores Huerta is only the latest to try and pull Obama's chestnuts out of the fire with her recent quote from a VOXXI.com interview (http://voxxi.com/2014/09/24/latino-leaders-wrong-obama-immigration/ ]http://voxxi.com/2014/09/24/latino-leaders-wrong-obama-immigration/), "We have to look at the big picture and don't get caught up in saying we want it now." "...we are a community that can wait."  And, "we have to have faith in our president..."  How ironic that she expresses no anger at the 70,000 to 100,000 more deportations Obama's delay will provoke.  Multi-millionaire Henry Cisneros, former Secretary of HUD under President Clinton, has repeatedly railed against immigrant advocates for demanding of the president "not one more deportation."  Disgraced and separated vice president of the Service Employees International Union, Eliseo Medina, has probably been the most protective of Obama at every turn.  And, Cecilia Muñoz, Director of Domestic Policy Council, and Assistant to President Obama, has been the White House's pit-bull in silencing critics of the deportation machine.”

    BeSimply....Montado Farms {Kevin Muno}

    in Culture

Join Kevin and ‘She’ as they explore the vision for Montado Farms. Kevin will share their vision and the result within this proposed restoration agriculture.

Montado Farms is a proposed Restoration Agriculture farm modeled after the oak savanna biome of the Mediterranean California climate. They will plant oaks and chestnuts representing the canopy layer and fagacea family, fruit trees and hazelnuts representing the medium tree and shrub layers and cane fruits, currants, and vines representing the final layer of our savanna based agricultural system. Vegetables will be grown and animals will be rotationally grazed through the alleyways of our farm, in between the trees, and these two crops will provide the early yields that will be crucial for short term debt repayment.

Sciacchetra, Sgroppino, Anchovies, Honey, and the 5 Terre

    in Travel

Serena Giovannoni of Wish Versilia (www.wishversilia.it) shares her love of the Cinque Terre, the land, the food, the people, and her favorite restaurant.
Imagine a wine as fine as Vin Santo, but aged only 2 months.  It's named Sciacchetra.  It is very difficult to harvest the grapes, but the result is delicious.
We also talk about the famous anchovies, lemons, chestnuts, and honey from the region.
We also dive into the variations of Pesto and how it is vastly different from throughout Liguria.
Serena is kind enough to offer her favorite restaurant in the Cinque Terre, specifically in Vernazza, named Bel Forte.
If you think you know the Cinque Terre and the fabulous cuisine you'll be surprised that there is so much more to discover.
