Chemotherapy given for cancer–or other conditions, such as autoimmune diseases–can, unfortunately, cause nerve damage (neuropathy).
Patients may or may not develop neuropathy based on which medications they are taking. Platinum-based chemotherapies in particular will usually cause neuropathy. Patients who undergo hormone or radiation therapy in addition to chemotherapy also have a high chance of developing peripheral neuropathy.
Symptoms of chemotherapy neuropathy include tingling, numbness, and burning, usually in the hands, feet, and legs. The good news is, a neurostimulator is a drug-free alternative that can actually be used during chemotherapy. Other options light therapies such as include Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) and LED Therapy. Manual therapies such as massage and spinal and joint manipulation are also crucial. Work with your team of medical professionals to find out which combination of these work best for you.

Tune in for an informative discussion with Dr. Barbara Biller, Veterinarian and Assistant Professor of Oncology at Colorado State University Animal Cancer Center
The primary focus of Dr. Biller’s research is on the interactions between the anti-tumor immune response and metronomic chemotherapy. Recently she completed a study for Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) in which she evaluated metronomic chemotherapy treatment on dogs with soft-tissue sarcoma.
During the study, it was Dr. Biller’s mission to learn more specifics on how to treat dogs using metronomics. She says:
“Even though veterinarians have been using metronomic chemotherapy on patients, we have been guessing on important factors like what drugs we should use, what dose is needed and at what intervals we should treat the patient. We hope to determine some of those factors.”
Dr. Biller is also involved in a number of collaborative studies with investigators at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and the Garden State Cancer Center evaluating immunotherapies in dogs with lymphoma and brain tumors.

Latest figures show that around 6,000 new cases are diagnosed in the UK every year - a disease that kills more people in the UK than testicular and cervical cancer combined - with one person dying every five hours from the disease. They use to say 1 in 3 will get cancer in our lifetime, today they say it’s 1 in 2. I find too many of us are complacent about those odds, believing not much can be done to change what we collectively believe is an inevitable fact of American life. Cancer, we're told, is random, it's genetic, and sooner or later, it's going to get us. But the truth is, a cancer diagnosis doesn't have to be a 50/50 proposition. In fact, what if you could “up the odds” to nearly 100% - a 100% chance you WON'T end up with cancer?
My guest tonight is Dr. Michael Gonzalez. Dr. Michael is a Professor at the Nutrition Program, School of Public Health Medical Sciences Campus, at the University of Puerto Rico. He has obtained several research awards for his work on Nutrition and Cancer. He is currently Co- Director of RECNAC II project, and Research Director of the “InBioMed Project Initiative”.. where he is the leader along with Dr. Massari in the development of non-toxic chemotherapy treatments for cancer. http://www.conem.org/people/gonzalezbio/
Connie Rogers is a Certified Health Coach, Founder & Owner of Bite Size Pieces, where she has the experience of working with people to improve their energy, work thru depression & cancer, get a grip on emotions & cravings, work thru stress and add in self care to their daily routine. She is an expert in toxins that can affect our metabolic, endocrine and skin health. You can reach her at www.bitesizepieces.net
It typically takes 7-10 years for cells to become mutated enough to be diagnosed as cancerous. Based on Western Medicine standards, this classifies it as a Chronic Condition. So, why the big rush, fear, and fatalism associated with cancer? Simply, it's because we're habituated into this response. If you simply look at the cancer industry size, it's a VERY profitable business model. Fear sells in medical. Cancer is not a death sentence. It's the result of stress, internal congestion, poor metabolism, anemic conditions, hormonal instabilities, etc. Let us together reclassify this all too common problem, as it has left the realm of "I have a friend whose mom died of cancer", to "My sister, my friend, and 2 grandparents all had cancer." Additionally, we want you to know how to navigate the emotional roller coaster this journey is, giving you the skills to handle it gracefully, without entering crisis mode. However you choose to heal, if you or someone you love is experiencing cancer, let's get some tools together for the journey. Take your time and allow it to unfold. You may be surprised at the talents you have uncovered once it is all over.
