Today on Aternative Thinking we have the President of The Citizen's Commission on Human Rights, (CCHR), Robert Donson-Smith.
The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is a nonprofit mental health watchdog, responsible for helping to enact more than 150 laws protecting individuals from abusive or coercive practices. CCHR has long fought to restore basic inalienable human rights to the field of mental health, including, but not limited to, full informed consent regarding the medical legitimacy of psychiatric diagnosis, the risks of psychiatric treatments, the right to all available medical alternatives and the right to refuse any treatment considered harmful.
Can you imagine a world where we don't ride horses, but instead, learn a new way of communicating with and learning from them? Author and filmmaker Stormy May can, and her film, The Path of the Horse, is changing the way equestrians think about their horses: no bits, no saddles....no riding. The documentary is a fascinating look at the horse and human heart and the other-worldy potential for their relationship.
About a decade ago, Stormy, formerly a champion competitor, instructor, and judge in equestrian sporting events, sold her ranch and bought a camera. She set out to travel the world and film the greatest horsemen and women, people whom she respected and read, and to learn a different and more humane way to work with horses. Her journey uncovered research that challenged her thinking and led her to look at her relationship with her own horses much differently.
She'll share her journey and her thoughts on horses in this conversation on Minstrel and Muse.
It's the 10th anniversary of Sideways, the book and movie that changed the wine world. Wine Muse hosts Linda Rez and William Pollard are honored to welcome Rex Pickett--iconoclastic author of the book.
The movie was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay; it also won over 350 awards from critics. In 2011 Mr. Pickett published Vertical which continues the story of Miles and Jack as they embark on a roadtrip with Miles' mom, her nurse, and her dog through wine country and middle America. Vertical explores Miles' relationship with his mother and his coming to grips with her impending death.
Mr. Pickett recently adapted his novel Sideways for the stage. It sold out to audiences for six months when it was performed at the Ruskin Group Theater, and it then went on to break all attendance records at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, where it was directed by Des McAnuff. The play is now heading to London's West End. He has a new book in the trilogy coming this fall, Sideways 3 Chile, you won't want to miss, which follows Miles' life and wine adventures in Chile.
They shocked the world by winning the white wine competition for their Chardonnay at the famous "Judgement of Paris" in 1976 and are largely responsible for the wild success of Chardonnay in the States. This summer, the famous Bo Barrett passed the Head Winemaking baton off to Matthew Crafton. The Wine Muse catches up with Matt to find out about his philosophy and see if the pressure of that great win--mythic in nature now--sets an unrealistic standard for him to follow.
He'll also give his opinion on the current state of perception and appreciation of Chardonnay in the world.
Listen to more winemakers talk about Chardonnay at this link.

This Mooonth for the Pieces Full Moon broadcast the Three Muses have gotten together with Astrolonaut, Gemini Brett; an astronaut with an innate skill for astrology. Gemini Brett has a unique way of weaving together the messages of planetary alignment to help translate connections within our own experience, helping to link us more to our ancestors of today through understanding in reading the skies.
We are elated to have the opportunity to learn about and engage in the Moon Games. Along with the sharing upon the Moon Games, Gemini Brett will be helping us to more deeply understand our connection to the Archetypal energies. As we understand our Archetypal energies we can step onto our sacred work more confidently, how we can act with knowing what our purpose is in life and moving forward with what that means as being a muse, teacher, scientist, prankster, poet or astrologer.
There has recently been an increase of passion shared amongst our communities regarding the chaotic interactions amongst authority, and innocent people of the land. Ferguson recently helped to bring light to what takes place frequently in our communities, for the broadcast we would like to share insight on ways to stay empowered, keep doing our Sacred Work as we raise our frequencies through healing internally to refelct externally a more heavenly dream.
