SORT BY Relevancy
So many people in this country are decent and good simply because they have they have grown up in the United States of America, a society that encourages charity and neighborliness. Decency is not an accident; in countries such as the old Soviet Union, indifference was rampant and kindness rare because virtue was crushed at every turn. America, on the other hand, has cultivated freedom and virtuous behavior, which allows goodness to flourish.
The greatness of America is not in question. The real question is, with leftist ideology steadily gaining a foothold, can that decency continue to flourish?
When virtue is defined as that which the government deems acceptable, and when that same government aggressively assumes the role of caring for those in need, can the goodness survive? Goodness is not something that a beneficent government can bestow; it flows from the hearts of free citizens reared in a tradition of morality, independence, and resourcefulness. When the left denigrates that tradition and seeks to replace it with a materialist, deterministic ideology that empowers an ever-expanding government, American goodness -- and hence American greatness -- is gravely imperiled

Oh Taste and see that the Lord is Good: Blessed is the man that trusteth in Him. Psalm 34:8
The Goodness of the Lord is not only tasted in the Good times: But His Goodness is manifest or discovered by the saints, from having gone through some things in this life... only to experience the delivering power of God. It's when he brings us out, that we can say like David said: This poor man cried and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. Psalm 34:6

Today's guest is David Meltzer. In his early 20s, David Meltzer was at the top of his game in the business world and lecturing around the globe. But something was missing, and the multimillionaire went on a rapid downward spiral that ended in bankruptcy. It was only then that David realized, in order to revive and thrive, he needed to blend spirituality with business. He started to develop his newfound life and business outlook as CEO to sports super agent Leigh Steinberg, where he, along with Leigh, and Warren Moon, negotiated over $2 Billion in sports and entertainment contracts. In addition to athlete representation, LSSE served as creative and technical consultants on movie and television projects such as: Jerry Maguire, Any Given Sunday, For The Love Of The Game, HBO’s Arli$$.The common perception of successful sports agents is an aggressive-to-be-effective persona that is as powerful at negotiating as their athletes are at sports.
Connecting to goodness seems an unlikely goal in either sports agenting or sports marketing, but it is the best un-kept secret of one of the best sports agents in the business. David is now the CEO at Sports 1 Marketing, a Warren Moon Enterprise, and was former CEO to sports super agent Leigh Steinberg. In the making, losing, and remaking of millions in sports agenting and marketing, David Meltzer has indeed become all about connecting to goodness as a tool for actual and worthwhile success in business and in life. Before he found the connection he made and lost millions. Now enormously successful, he never forgets the value of that connection – and he is here today to discuss it with us.
This week on the Cosmic Citizen, Dr. Jeff Wattles will share some of the keen insights he gained after retiring last year from being a full-time professor of philosophy at Kent State University. He especially wants to share with our listeners what he has learned concerning cosmic truths about the family of God.
Jeff earned a B.A. in philosophy at Stanford University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from Northwestern. He retired from Kent State University after a long and distinguished career as a philosophy professor and is currently writing a book on a new philosophy of living. It is a topic that he explores and blogs about regularly at the following site: http://anewphilosophyofliving.com/
He says he realized his need to balance his philosophical and religious strengths by focusing effectively on the practical tasks of everyday material existence.
Jeff admits that he also learned major spiritual lessons when he created a street ministry to share profound spiritual truth with homeless and unemployed people. He likes to expound on the great benefit and ministry of beauty and joy in our emotional lives. By the end of our show, he hopes to leave us with the inspirational story of the city of Cleveland’s Breakthrough Schools for poor minority students. And reiterate how beneficial what he learned in one of their middle schools has been to his own character growth and achievement.
Jeff Wattles is a beloved teacher and scholar and this week's show promises to go deep. If you like to go deep, please join us.

Jesus Christ came into this world to make us someting extraordinary. Let us be extraordinary this week in Jesus name. Amen.

For God So Loved the World
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
