SORT BY Relevancy
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT, AND THE SIN WHICH SO EASLIY ENSNARES US, AND LET US RUN WITH ENDURANCE THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US... Hebrews 12

Remember to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem Ps.122
Over the years many people have asked me if there is an unpardonable sin. The New Testaments does teach that there is an unpardonable sin which applied to the Jews in the dispensation of the Old Testament. But this is not a sin that Christians can commit. However, there is sin that can lead to chastisement or their deaths. God in certain circumstances will take a believer's life. It is important that every believer understand this important truth that concerns the chastening of God.
Mat. 19:6 "So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor detest His correction;
12 For whom the Lord loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights (Proverbs 3:11-12)
This verse was quoted in Hebrews 12. It's not a little feel-good chapter about how to make the best of your troubles - or even about how God makes the best of your troubles....it's a story of God's love. It is a massive statement about the gracious sovereignty of God over the evil that befalls his people. The question for us is will we accept the mysteries of God's Providence and be trained by it .... OR will we kick against this chapter and demand in the time of suffering that God perform in a way that we many times have erroneously either been taught or come to understand on our own?
Let's take a look at [biblical] discipline as we come to understand the love of God together.
We’ve looked last time into Hebrews 12:5-12 and saw how God will chastise his people to correct them in order for us to walk more obedient to HIS Will. We also learned that when God correct us, for the moment, it can be hard and grievous, “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous-“ (Hebrews 12:11). Now let’s look at the end results of what is happening to us when we go through God’s Chastisement.
Praying Through the Bible #79
TEXT: Isaiah 26:12-18
Last week, we began talking about how God allows our painful experiences to be used to bring about positive results. Have you ever taken bitter medicine? It didn't taste good when it was going down, but when it spread throughout your body and had done its work, it made you feel better. Pain gets our attention. Pain makes us stop and ask, "What is God trying to tell me?"
C.S. Lewis said, "We can rest contentedly in our sins and in our stupidities, and some will admit that we can ignore even pleasure. But pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world."
As we mentioned last week, Isaiah gives to us a prayer from the children of Israel who were no strangers to pain. Today, we are going to wrap up our look at this prayer, as we continue to see the positivity that can come from pain.
1. We see that pain causes us to acknowledge God as the source of our blessings. As the children of Israel come out of their painful experience, in verse 15 they say, "Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth."
2. We see that pain causes us to turn to God in prayer. Verse 16 reads, "Lord, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them." This is another positive thing that comes from pain -- it causes us to turn back to God in prayer.
3. We see that pain causes us to focus on positive results. Look now at verses 17-18: "Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O Lord. We have been with child, we have been in pain..."
Join me a weekly study of Proverbs to change the inward man. The book of proverbs is full of wisdom. By the direction of Prophetess Diane Grimble known as Lady Diane, she will walk you through the book of proverbs, one chapter at a time. We will walk through proverbs and gleam from teh wisdom within.
In this lesson of chapter 3, the study of truth leading to wisdom is commended to all. This is enforced by a contrast to the destinies of the wise and wicked.
Verses 1-20 is where Solomon instructs that wisdom is (1) rooted in sound teaching v. 1-4; (2) rests in trust in God, v. 5-6; (3) rewards those who obey v. 7-10.
While wisdom demands chastening, it brings profound benefits, v. 13-18 and it importance is clear since it under-girded God’s creation in verses 19 and 20.
There is a group that follows me in a private closed book on facebook where I provide assignments and coaching for all those who are involved.
There are yearly goals set for each person that joins the journey. They are held accountable in prayer to finish the course. They are coached in their God-given purpose.
The group I coach do reflections of each chapter and memory verses.
