Not too long ago, I read a news release from an organization about a young boy who had gone missing the day before and his family searched for him frantically. The next day or so, the boy's body was found floating in a river. He had been tortured, burned and then killed. This boy was killed to intimidate the family who were Christians.
There are hundreds and thousands of Christians who are intimidated, attacked, chained, imprisoned, beaten, and killed for their faith. They are located in countries where Christianity is in the minority. Some countries say it is against the law for them to be converts to any other religion besides the state religion. Others make protestations of acceptance of Christianity but refuse to help when Christian are attacked by extremist militant groups. However, these stalwart Christians refuse to renounce their faith.

Have you ever walked around your neighborhood, and seen a dog that seems to always be alone in the yard, chained to a post?
This cruel, and inhumane practice is known as chaining, or tethering.
Dogs are social creatures, and when isolated for long periods they become depressed, neurotic, anxious and aggressive. They go slowly insane.
A chained dog is usually confined to a very small area where he eats (if he's even fed!), sleeps, defecates, and urinates.
They are: usually malnourished, receive no veterinary care, are infested with fleas, ticks, heartworms, mange and other parasites, dirty and dehydrated. Some have starved to death.
Many die of heat exhaustion, or freeze to death.
Collars are often embedded in their necks from years of straining against them, or not having them adjusted as they grew. If that animal is lucky enough to be rescued, the collar has to be surgically removed.

The top House Republican campaign official broke with other GOP leaders Wednesday in criticizing President Barack Obama over his chained CPI proposal.
During an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) said Obama was “trying to balance this budget on the backs of seniors” with the plan, which would change the way Social Security cost-of-living adjustments are calculated.
Daniel Scarpinato, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, said Walden is opposed to “chained CPI,” even if that’s out of step with other GOP leaders.
“He believes it’s wrong to cut benefits for seniors to pay for more wasteful spending,” Scarpinato said.
Chapter 1: White House Calls for Hold on Decision Regarding Plan-B Morning After Pill The FDA announced lowered the age which young women can obtain Plan-B, the so-called “morning-after pill” without a prescription from 17 years-of-age to 15. A federal district judge thought there shouldn’t be any age restriction. The Administration reacted by asking the court for a stay while they appeal. We talk to Linda Feldmann reporter for the Christian Science Monitor who has been following the story. Chapter 2: Social Security and Chained CPI Retirement assistance be it Social Security and Medicare remains a constant battle when Congress debates the budget. Various budget proposals have varied on how they would address its solvency. President Obama included the adoption of chained-CPI to calculate future social security needs and payouts to retirees. The Senate did not. The Republican budget didn’t, but included other cuts. We talk to Mark Romm, Director of Masters Program in American Government at Georgetown University and Max Richtman, President and CEO of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security. Chapter 3: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Using State Race for 2016 Ambitions Chris Christie is again bucking his own party, calling for expanded background checks to curb gun violence. Meanwhile, the New Jersey Gubernatorial election is 6 months away, though many are calling it a done deal. Christie is a popular national figure, even having been named one of Time’s 100 most influential people. His Opponent is Barbara Buono, a state senator who served as the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and as majority leader. We get an update from Paul Mulshine, columnist at the New Jersey Star Ledger.

Dogs Deserve Better, a national and award-winning nonprofit organization, is a voice for chained and penned dogs. As the days become years, many of these dogs sit, lay, eat, and defecate within the same 10-foot radius. Chained by the neck, they exist without respect, love, exercise, social interaction, and sometimes even basic nourishment. They live as prisoners, yet long to be pets.
"Dogs Deserve Better has dogs we have rescued from chains or pens available for adoption at both our Good Newz Rehab Center in Smithfield, Virginia, and in foster homes nationwide. At any given time we may have as many as 50-75 dogs available for adoption, depending on our ability."

Sometimes planning for something to be perfect can keep us chained to the start line of what we need to do. It is wonderful to plan and it is great to have a desire for everything to be in place, however, if you are not careful a need for perfection can paralyze you and you may never launch what you are wanting to do. SAMUEL J. WINCHESTER is an escaped convict, wanted by the law for murder, but once he was an officer and a gentleman.
Winchester was an 1831 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point NY. Graduating at the top of his class as an engineer, he worked for ten years building roads, bridges and fortifications.
He was engaged to marry, EMMALINE ADELMAN, the daughter of COL. AUBREY ADELMAN. She is the apple of her father’s eye and of Sam’s as well.
Sam thought he had it all.
Then in 1841 without warning he was placed under arrest and quickly convicted of the murder of a family on the raw frontier of the Republic of Texas. He was sent to a succession of prisons, the last being Castillo de San Marcos at St. Augustine, FL where conditions were brutal. Inmates were fed slop, whipped or beaten often. At night they were chained to the floor and given cotton pallets instead of beds.
Escape was thought to be impossible.
But Sam did manage to escape after ten years of confinement.
He took his chains with him, and carries them in his saddlebags. He will not rest until he has found those responsible for his fall from grace.
He intends to batter them with the length of chain, each and every one of them, however many there might be.
Join Pippin stars Kyle Dean Massey (Pippin) and Ciara Renee (The Leading Player) backstage at The Music Box Theatre with host Robin Milling. Boldly stepping into the circus choreography for five weeks of training to take over for Matthew James Thomas and Patina Miller, they are relaxed and eager to perform. Ciara says she picked Patina's brain for some direction before turning out Fosse's jazz hands and learned trapeze with the bruises to prove her hard work! Massey had to master a completely different skill set of acrobatics including a back flip!
Kyle tells Robin there's history as Matthew's girlfriend Jennifer Damiano played his sister in Next To Normal, so passing the chained linked sweater onto him was an honor (and yes it is made of real heavy metal). Matthew even left a photo behind of Damiano which sits on Kyle's dressing room shelf.
Both experienced natural opening night jitters. Ciara, previously The Witch in Big Fish, says she'd never been so nervous on stage before, but with the non-stop action you don't have time for nerves. Kyle agrees, "You're shot out of a cannon literally and you don't stop until the end of the show.” From the first chord Ciara says she can feel the energy from the audience. “Before I come out I have that silhouette moment; you can feel their presence through that curtain. That's an amazing energy and you ride on that till the end.”
