Your data analytics project isn't complete until you package the results in a way that truly helps your client in the business unit make decisions and take action based on your work. That means that analysts not only need to know what the data means but how the recipient of a report can best view and the understand information.
Options for data visualization seem to be growing almost by the day. New technologies and techniques can turn flat, number-intensive reports into bright, colorful 3D interactive graphics. Your approach to delivering results to decision makers will depend on the data and your client's needs. You can help your data tell its story.
Join All Analytics Radio when A2 blogger and Zencos SAS consultant Tricia Aanderud outlines best practices and recent developments in data visualization on Monday, June 22, at 2 pm (EDT). Your presentation options range from an emailed spreadsheet to in-person presentations and dashboards that will serve the business for years to come.
In this interactive session you will learn:
Why you need to consider your visualization and presentation options early in the project lifecycle.
How you can find the right presentation approach for your client.
About some of the new visualization techniques and technologies available to analytics professionals.
The value in the Internet of Things will be reflected in business applications that drive new revenue or bring operational efficiencies. It will be up to the analytics team, working closely with business unit leaders and application developers, to turn device data into alert systems for corporate equipment, to identify customer trends, and to build efficiency into inventory and supply systems. Learn about:
Adapting data mining techniques for the new volumes and types of data coming from devices
How enterprises are applying predictive analytics to IoT data
Where IoT data can enhance existing applications
How other companies are keeping their focus on putting data to work, not letting it gather dust

HR Happy Hour 216 - Keeping HR Data Secure
Recorded Friday June 19, 2015
Hosts: Trish McFarlane, Steve Boese
Guest : Roland Cloutier, VP, Chief Security Officer, ADP
This week on the show, Steve and Trish were joined by ADP's Chief Security Officer, Roland Cloutier, for a fascinating discussion on organizational and employee data security.Roland discussed the primary issues and concerns that HR and business leaders have with data security, the best ways for HR leaders to engage with their solution providers and their internal teams when navigating issues of data security, and offered insights on how to continue to secure critical employee information in an environment of multiple systems, platforms, and data integrations.
This was an extremely lively and fun show, (don't let the dry-sounding topic fool you), about an important and timely issue facing all HR and business leaders today - keeping your employee and organizational data secure in an environment where threats to that data's security and integrity are just about everywhere.
Thanks to Roland and the team at ADP for making this important topic understandable, relatable, and yes, even kind of fun. Every HR leader's job is employee data security, and as such, you don't want to miss this discussion.

Don't wait until the data starts to flow before you figure out how you are going to store, organize, analyze, and find value in data. We will discuss how your planning for an IoT initiative can help you identify what data you need -- and what you don't need -- from networked devices and how you can avoid drowning in data while you gain insight about your operations and your customers. You also will learn about the security risks and best practices relating to protecting new types of internal operational data and information derived from customer devices and activity. Learn about:
How to do a data triage
About fitting new device data types into your data architecture and formats
About best practices in securing data, whether internal or customer information
How other companies are handling archival device data
Jason never disappoints, great convo coming about engagement and being a Best Place to Work.
Everyone meet Jason, Jason meet everyone.
Jason: Even when I was in grade school, I recognized when processes were broken. But, rather than complain about them, my instinct was to find or create a better way. I solved the problem. I facilitated progress. I never outgrew this.
As my career unfolded, it became clear to me that the experience of “work” wasn’t a good one for far too many people. And so it has become my calling to make work better. I believe that work can and should be an awesome experience (It happens, I’ve seen it.). I believe that people want to do great work. I also believe that leaders want their people to be successful. The challenge seems to be that we are stuck in outdated mindsets and beliefs about “work” that get in our way. My mission is to fix that.

The annual Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) published in April was the biggest and most jam-packed ever, with loads of data and trend nuggets that didn't necessarily catch the eye of the media or the public.
Marc Spitler, co-author of the Verizon DBIR, in the next episode of Dark Reading Radio will share some of those lesser-known but most intriguing tidbits from the massive report that captures the attention of the security community every year. Among some of the findings that may have gotten lost in the shuffle: the long-term trend in point-of-sale compromises, how mobile is not a factor in real-world attacks, the role of system admin errors, and some of the lesser-known impacts of a breach.
Spitler will drill down on these and other elements of the DBIR on Dark Reading Radio’s upcoming episode, which will be hosted by Kelly Jackson Higgins, executive editor of Dark Reading.
Join us for discussion of the meta-existential of transcendence, as part of our larger conversation of the topology of the self. This is foundational to later discussion about violence and reverence.
