Celtics Talk Radio Episode 101 End of The Celtics Season as Celtics are Swept

    in Sports

The Boston Celtics Season came to an end this past Sunday at the hand of Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers via a 4-0 series sweep. Game 4 saw several things that could have an effect on both the Celtics in terms of their plans for the offseason and the Cavaliers in their chase for the NBA Championship. In game 4 we saw the Cavs 3rd best player Kevin Love go down with a dislocated shoulder which could cost him to miss some time depending on the severity. In the 3rd quarter the Cavaliers delivered 2 cheap shots to Jae Crowder. 1 delivered by former Celtic Center Kendrick Perkins as he delivered a shot to the head of Crowder shoving him to the ground which resulted in Crowder retaliating and Perkins hitting him in the face a 2nd time before the refs broke things up. Perkins was not ejected for his actions. Then in the same quarter JR Smith threw an elbow right to the face of Crowder which knocked him out causing Crowder to fall down in an akward way causing a leg injury and that led to Crowder having to leave the game. JR Smith was ejected for his actions. Now both JR Smith and Kendrick Perkins face possible suspensions for their actions which would cost them games in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Meanwhile some of the players the Celtics were depending greatly on to lead this team came up small in this series. Brandon Bass being one of the biggest dissapointments in this series. So now we recap what happened in games 3 and 4. What could the Celtics and its fans take out of this series? Did any of the players on the roster clinch their one way ticket out of Boston like Brandon Bass? Did any Celtics win over the fan base and earn the right to return next season like Jae Crowder? The Celtics Talk Crew will answer those questions as well as give you the updates on what the NBA has decided to do to Perkins and Smith for their actions in game 4. John Karalis of redsarmy.com will join us on this episode of Celtics Talk Radio

Celtics Talk Radio episode 98 The Final Week of the Boston Celtic Season?

    in Sports

Its the final week of the 2014/15 NBA Season. The Celtics have 5 games left on their NBA Schedule and are right in the thick of things in the NBA playoff race. The Celtics since our last show played 4 games 3 which came against teams that they are competing with in the race for the final spots in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Celtics went on the road and got a 12 point victory over the Hornets down in Charlotte. Then 2 nights later welcomed the Indiana Pacers to TD Garden and defeated them by 13 clinching the season series and the tiebreaker if the 2 teams were to tie for a playoff spot at the end of the season. The Celtics 2 night last lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in a game where they looked great in the 1st half and then looked mediocre in the 2nd half. Then one night later the Celtics defeated the Atlantic Division Champion Raptors up in there own arena. The Celtics also during that time got Jared Sullinger to return to game action after many believed he was done for the season just a couple of months ago. So a 3-1 record in 4 big games plus a Jared Sullinger return a pretty good week overall. So now where do the Celtics stand in the playoff picture. What needs to happen in the final week for the Celtics to make it. Which 2 teams have the advantage right now over the others based on who they are facing in the final week. We will discuss all of that and give you the new magic numbers for each of the teams in this race as well as any important updates on the teams towards the top of the standings that could play a role in the race for the lower seeds. Rich Conte will join the Celtics Talk Crew for the final show of the regular season

Celtics Talk Radio episode 99 The End of the 2014/15 NBA Regular season has come

    in Sports

Thats right the 82 game regular season in the NBA has finally come to an end. The Celtics started this season as a team that was destined for the NBA lottery. The chances for that destiny being achieved went up when Danny Ainge traded Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks. Everyone thought for sure this teams destiny was a lock once Ainge traded Jeff Green. The fan's starting talking about going into tank mode for the 2nd season in a row. But instead the Celtics opted to fight in what was a weak Eastern Conference and show the rest of the NBA that they are not far from being able to compete with the NBA'S elite teams despite those teams having all-stars on their roster and Boston having none. The Celtics found themselves in the middle of a 4 team race going into the final week of the NBA regular season for the 7th and 8th spots in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics with no all-star players were in the lead of that 4 team race ahead of 3 teams that everyone thought was a lock for the NBA playoffs before the season started. The Celtics were ahead of a Brooklyn Nets team who had Joe Johnson, Deron Williams and Brook Lopez leading them in their fight for a playoff spot. They were ahead of the Miami Heat who of course did not have Chris Bosh but still had Dwayne Wade, Luol Deng and added Goran Dragic at the trade deadline. They were also ahead of the team that has been one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference the last few seasons along with Miami which is the Indiana Pacers and yet the Pacers had Roy HIbbert and George Hill virtually all season. The Celtics with no Rondo, no Green and while having no Jared Sullinger managed to catch and pass those 3 teams and have the edge going into the final week. So now we will discuss how did the final week end. Did the Celtics do what many thought was impossible and get to the NBA playoffs if so who will they face or are they headed to the lottery again. We recap the season with Adam Lowenstein

Celtics Talk Radio episode 95 March Schedule Madness

    in Sports

The Celtics had just gotten by the toughest 2 games of their March schedule the last time the Celtics Talk Crew was on the air. Since that show the Celtics Schedule has started to lighten up a bit. Since the last show the Celtics have gone on a 3 game road trip facing 2 playoff contending teams in the Pelicans and Heat and facing one lottery bound team in the Orlando Magic. The Celtics also faced the 2nd best team in the western conference which is the Memphis Grizzlies. The Celtics went into their game with the Pelicans this past Friday 2.5 games behind the Heat for the 7th seed and 2 games back of the Hornets for the 8th seed. Over the last week the Celtics as well as the Hornets, Heat and the other 3 teams involved in the battle for the 7th and 8th seeds which are the Nets, Pistons and Pacers were all playing games either against each other or against some of the better teams in the NBA. So there was plenty of oppurtunity for movement in the standings. So did the Celtics move at all? If they did was it up or down? Jamey Burke a Celtics fanatic, kicks connoisseur, and a RedsArmy contributor will join the crew discuss the last week in the Celtics schedule.

CELTICS TALK RADIO EPISODE 93 CELTICS IN PLAYOFF HUNT WITH THREE NEW PLAYERS

    in Sports

The NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone. Danny Ainge made 2 moves shipping away Marcus Thorton and a 2016 first round pick courtesy of the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Isaiah Thomas. Ainge then sent Tayshaun Prince to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome. The Celtic's began the 2nd half of the NBA season taking on the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento. The Celtics are among 6 teams all fighting for the final 2 playoff spots in the eastern conference. The Celtics have a good shot to make the NBA playoffs despite not having any major stars and their chances of making the playoffs went up with the way the trade deadline went seeing teams like the Nets trade away players like Kevin Garnett and teams like the Heat lose players to season ending injurys like Chris Bosh with blood clot's. So it looks like it will be the Celtics fighting for the playoffs rather then tanking. We will breakdown the latest new's as well as hot Thomas, Jerebko and Datome have faired in their first week as Celtic's. Has Thomas shown he can be that difference maker many thought he would be after the team traded for him or did losing a 3 point shooter like Thorton come out to be too much. ADAM LOWENSTEIN aka Stats Adam will join the Celtics Talk Crew to discuss the Celtics performances in the back end of their western conference road trip coming out of the All-Star break
