The Lions nip the Jacksonville Jaguars by the final score of 22-17 at EverBank Field in Jacksonville. Robb Gillies analyzes the pros and cons (including too many penalties) of it with me. The debate for the backup QB position just got heated up a little.
I recap the series opener between the Tigers and the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays from Rogers Centre. The Tigers lose again 5-3 and thus fall 7 games below the .500 mark. The evaluation for Tigers manager Brad Ausmus early on is not looking good thus far in the late stages of the 2015 MLB regular season.
Texas Southern opened the season on a tear before falling back to earth. The Tigers have to prove they have what it takes to challenge the upper division of the SWAC West. The Tigers have added some new weapons and feel like this may be the year they take the leap to the next level. With a coach that some may feel is on the hot seat this may be now or never. We’ll discuss the Tigers here.
After a tumultuous trade deadline in Tiger Town, things returned to normal last week. And by normal, we mean losing. The Tigers lost two of three to both the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals. HookSlide and Rob talk about these games, the upcoming week of Tigers baseball, and how to fix the beleaguered Detroit bullpen without burning the whole thing to the ground.
Topics in this week's episode include:
* This podcast has a name!
* What happened against the Boston Red Sox?
* Victor Martinez might be back to his old self
* Jefry Marte is good, but how good?
* What are we watching for as the Tigers finish out 2015?
* The single-biggest thing to be excited about for the Tigers in 2016
* The dugout fight that was (or wasn't)

Ed Smith makes his return as my co-host on the Detroit Sports Truth! First, we talk about everything bad that Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has done, and everything that he didn't do that he really should've done. We also talk about Detroit Sports Rag #2-in-command Justin Spiro holding up the "Fire Ausmus" and "Hire Acta" signs and getting assaulted by the fan behind him at Wrigley Field. Then I allow him to give me and the Detroit sports world his predictions on the Lions, Michigan Wolverines, and Michigan State Spartans.

I recap and talk about what went down in Preseason Week 2 between the Lions and the Washington Redskins Thursday night with special guest Lions analyst Robb Gillies from Cadillac.
I also touch on the first of a 4-game series between the Tigers and Texas Rangers at Comerica Park. The Tigers may be pretty much done, but the Rangers are not.
Finally, I scour the Red Wings 30 in 30 package from nhl.com for a preview of their 2015-2016 season.

This is the way we go as Septemner comes. Tim Rosenthal and myself take on the latest topics on The Program as we always do. Tonight will be fun as we are off what feels like a long vacation. There will be the usual banter as we try our best to fight onward. The season is less than six weeks away.
In a bit of a twist, we will look at the Metropolitan Division and make our long awaited predictions. After that, there will be the news and notes then maybe even some fantasy hockey teasers as well. It will be a fast paced hour so if you want to get your questions in....call or get them in via Twitter and social media.
The phone number is 1-347-826-7358 as always. We hope you can make it or you can download the show later on iTunes.
Jackson State had an un JSU like season, the Tigers struggled under their first year coach. But showed signs of life by the end of the season. With a potentially high flying offense and the always dangerous Dark Side Defense, JSU could be the roadblock for any contender. The Tigers are picking up preseason praise, can they translate that to victories? We’ll find out.
