This week, Peter Greenberg Worldwide broadcasts from The Athenaeum in London. Situated just steps away from St. James Park, this family-owned establishment is one of Peter’s favorites. He’s been going there for more than 30 years, and it started because of Sally Bulloch, the electric, dynamic general manager—and at the time the only woman to hold that post in a London Hotel. We pay tribute to Sally this week, as we’re joined by Tim Arthur, CEO of Time Out, who gives some of his off-the-brochure secrets for visiting London.
Also joining us is London travel writer and U.S. expat Amy Laughinghouse who talks about the best walking tours in London. All of this and more when Peter Greenberg Worldwide broadcasts from the Athenaeum in London.
Gordon Bannerman, Sports Editor of the Perthshire Advertiser, discusses all things golf as well as other popular sports in Scotland. All of this and more on this episode of Travel Today with Peter Greenberg.
This week, the Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show airs from the legendary Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California. It’s a historic hotel. It’s a haunted hotel. For movie buffs, it was also the location for the legendary film Some Like it Hot with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and Marilyn Monroe.
Meredith Manee, Chef de Cuisine at 1500 Ocean restaurant, tells us about the most surprising dish she serves at 1500 Ocean (a people pleasing fish) and what she’s doing to locally source delicious ingredients. “Gnarly” Neal, owner of Gnarly Neal’s Ocean Instruction to share stories of surfing in San Diego. This week, Travel Today with Peter Greenberg from Cairo, Egypt. We’ve been broadcasting at least once every year from Egypt since 1998. Tourism numbers are down drastically in Egypt, but, as a veteran traveler to the region, Peter argues that this is perhaps the best time to go! You’ll find hardly anyone at the pyramids, and while more than 300 boats usually travel down the Nile in Luxor, this year only about six are operating. Joining Peter will be John Boulding, CEO of Insight Vacations to discuss why his boat, the Tosca, is running—as business is slowly starting to improve.
A few ambassadors also stop by to give their situation report on Cairo and the rest of the country. Then, we go on a quick detour to visit celebrity Chef John Besh to talk about another city that knows all too well about recovery: New Orleans (especially as we near the tenth anniversary of Katrina). All of this and more during this week’s episode of Travel Today with Peter Greenberg from Cairo, Egypt.
