If Not For Dreaming is an indie alternative rock band from New Haven, CT. With "extremely catchy riffs, addictive melodies, and smart lyrics" according to English music blogger Him Up North, this band writes original songs that are beautifully layered and deeply personal. Their music is fueled by both emotion and a true love of creating songs. With music styles ranging from laid-back to highly energetic, If Not For Dreaming focuses on female vocals and intricate guitars to help shape songs appropriate for a wide variety of listeners.

The band is currently at work on their third album while also playing live to support their previous full-length release, "Awake and Asleep". They will be joined on their forthcoming release by additional musicians, contributing further intricacy to their musical arrangements. The songs of If Not For Dreaming can be found on iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, and Soundcloud, just to name a few. They have been given positive reviews by bloggers and critics in the United States, England, Germany, and South America. Professional videos can be found on their YouTube channel.

If Not For Dreaming was formed in fall of 2008 by Pasquale Russo and Amity Wahl, and this duo continues to form the core of the band. Their songwriting grew out of their desire to make songs that reflect their lives and experiences. Brian LaRue of The New Haven Advocate concludes that "the songs are composed and arranged with finesse and great attention to both detail and mood setting".

The Hay Girls Show from Time Out Lounge

    in Entertainment

Jeff Gonzales was raised in Phoenix's East Valley, writing songs for his first band The Dirt Bike Kids at 15. He then served as bassist/vocalist of Tempe's Loud Americans, with the late Marco Holt. In 2005, he joined psychedelic pop band Skybox, relocating with them to Chicago. During this time he began to write and perform as a solo artist, embracing more traditional folk and country music in his songwriting, and testing his songs out at the El train stops in the Windy City. Gonzales later returned to Arizona and recorded his solo debut, The Lights Just Went Out..., which he produced with Aaron Ott. The 6-song EP earned him high praise, including Songwriter of the Year honors from YabYum Music & Arts. A new record is currently in the works, with the single The Robin & Birch Tree to precede the new record, sometime in 2015.

D.G. Scherrer is a singer-songwriter and award-winning poet from Phoenix, AZ. He began writing and singing songs when he was twelve years old, as the front man for a junior high school punk band. Since then he has become something of a songwriter's songwriter, crafting dark, catchy, lyrically sophisticated tunes in the tradition of Leonard Cohen and Townes Van Zandt. Still, the bite and immediacy of punk remains apparent in his songs, as well as in the sheer volume of his voice when he roars a chorus. Scherrer draws heavily on older American music forms, particularly blues, gospel and country.

The Parker J Cole Show -- Love and Marriage

    in Radio

Love and marriage, love and marriage,
Go together like a horse and carriage.
This I tell ya, brother, you can't have one without the other.

Love and marriage, love and marriage,
It's an institute you can't disparage.
Ask the local gentry and they will say it's elementary.

Try, try, try to separate them, it's an illusion.
Try, try, try and you only come to this conclusion:
Love and marriage, love and marriage

We've all heard the song before, immortalized by the suave tones of Frank Sinatra. A catchy tune that either one completely agrees with or no one agrees with.

After all, we have ample proof from society that love and marriage do not go together like a horse and carriage. In fact, marriage and love seem to be at odds with each other. Divorce rates are skyrocketing, whether Christian or not, in the U. S. In fact, marriage is seen as an unnecessary thing in order for a couple to stay together. After all, surely we don't need a piece of paper to state whether we're committed or not. Monogamy doesn't have to be in the confines of marriage, does it? We all know couples who have been together for years and are committed to each other.

So maybe, love and marriage don't go together.

But, is it all just about love and marriage? Is perhaps our definition of love somewhat skewed? Is love personified in the physical intimacy between man and women?

Let's talk about it on this episode of the Parker J Cole show. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app today. Any way you can, tune in

    Interview with The Stellas

    in Music

When The Stellas took their first trip to Nashville in 2008, they were still a relatively unknown husband-and-wife duo from the Toronto suburbs, armed with little more than two voices, one acoustic guitar, and a catalog of smart, catchy songs.

These days, The Stellas are songwriters who have written 90% of the material on their own albums, as well as songs for other artists. They’re parents of Lennon and Maisy, who star as Maddie & Daphne on ABC's "Nashville."

For Brad and MaryLynne Stella, the turning point occurred during a short trip to Nashville. While there, they talked their way into playing an impromptu show at the Commodore Grill, which led to a second show the following night. A publisher was in the audience that evening, and he liked what he heard. The Stellas were offered a deal on the spot. A year later, they were on the hit CMT show "Can You Duet?", moved to Nashville and signed a record deal with EMI Canada. They took home the CCMA trophy for "Duo of the Year" in 2013.

Back in America, one of The Stellas' biggest fans, Zac Brown, asked the duo to join his band for a series of sold-out shows. Brad and MaryLynne have also toured with Johnny Reid & Terri Clark.

"Back when we first started our career," Brad remembers, "we came across a lot of musicians who had a 'woe is me' story. They used to live in their car, or they had to wait tables for years before signing a record deal. We had that story, too, but we didn't view it as a negative thing, we thought of it more like camping! We wouldn't trade it for anything.”

"In some ways, we're making a first impression all over again," MaryLynne says of their new record. “This is the album we always wanted to make."
