Part two of my interview with the incredible singer/songwriter/recording artist Casey Stratton. Casey joined me live on the phone from his home in Grand Rapids, Michigan where we discussed music, life, major record labels and the fact that I had a manflu (most women refer to this as 'a cold'). We got deep and meaningful and we took listener calls who shared stories that inspired us both.
Casey Stratton has lived a life of music. He learned cello at the age of 8 and by age 16 he could also play violin, guitar and piano to compose songs of such maturity and sophistication that he would begin a music career that has spanned almost two decades and counting. Today in 2014 he is a songwriting and recording artist with 19 albums under his belt. His discography begins with 'The Giver and the Grave Digger' released in 1996 through to 2013's stunning 'Sea into Sky'. He is a multitalented artist who really does do it all. Composer, arranger, player and angelic vocalist. His journey to maintain artistic integrity and make a living as an artist in a commercial world is compelling and we speak about his road from indie to major and back again. The fact his artistry and integrity lived to tell the tale is extraordinary and he shares it with you. Attorney Sarah Steele and writer Bennet Pomerantz discuss the subjects of the day.
The audience should know that although Ms. Steele is a licensed attorney, she is not offering legal advice in any capacity, is not establishing an attorney/client relationship with anyone listening to the show, and recommends that any listener of the show consult a local attorney for any legal advice they may require.
This show is about us discussing hot topics and how they relate to the law.
Tonight we discuss the topic of estate planning, the rights of the living, and the rights of the nearly deceased. Casey Kasem, the seminal voice from America’s Top 40, passed away earlier this month. Until the day he passed away, his children and brother were embroiled in a battle with Mr. Kasem’s wife of 33 years. His children and brother were desperate to see Mr. Kasem, as they were aware of his declining health. His wife claimed that she was named as his conservator in 2011 and, accordingly, she could say who saw her husband and who could not. Join Bennet and Sarah as they discuss the legal ins and outs of this emotionally charged case involving one of America’s most beloved celebrities.
