Every time I hear a parent brag that her child is her best friend, I cringe and think, “Well, that’s too bad.” The job description of parent is mighty long—nurturer, teacher, advisor, consultant, guide, spotter, disciplinarian, consoler, cheerleader. But I am quite sure “friend” is not on the list. I fully believe that you really like your child, that there are times when you get along like peas and carrots, that you say you can read each other’s minds. But your child, whether young or old, needs you to be her parent. She has enough friends, and so do you. I know that you don’t get to spend much time with your child; both of your schedules are packed 24/7. So you want what little time you have together to be pleasant. I know it’s just easier to say yes, and everyone will be happy…for the moment.
Children are not like self-basting turkeys; they just can’t grow themselves. Children will seek all the good stuff they can get—be it extra tv time, cookies from the platter, or minutes at the mall. And they count on you to stop them, to rein them back in. It is their job to test the limits; it is your job to stop them. And as children get older, more than ever they rely on you to be their brakes, especially when faced with peer pressure. “No, my dad will kill me if I get home after curfew.” Your child needs to know that you love her so much that you will tolerate her explosive protest when you lay down the law and you will not change your mind because of it. Nothing can be more important to you than her well being, her safety, and her learning the rules of the road.

Join Partners in Health and Biz talk show host Gail Dixon as we discuss your guide to optimum juicing and healthy eating, Part 2.
Juice extraction is good for you because...
It’s a great opportunity to consume much more fresh fruits and vegetables than you would otherwise.
It’s great for kids who don’t eat much fresh food and drink too much soda. A lot of the juices you can make taste amazing – even to kids!
Fruit and vegetable juices are easier to digest than eating the equivalent.
People enjoy the taste of fresh fruit and vegetable juice more than a big plate of cabbage or carrots.
Fresh fruit and vegetable juice is raw, which is the best way to consume fresh food. Cooking tends to destroy important enzymes.

When Congresses main income did not come from Lobbyist or fundraising activites, perhaps loyalty to American Citizens came easier. While Main Street has been sleeping or convinced they too could become a part of the 1% by the many dangling carrots before them, basic Civil Rights have been tossed by the wayside, this includes protections for those injured in car accidents. Join me, ESTRA in talking about how Insurance, Banking, and Finance are having the effect of eliminating payment to Policyholders on claims.

Reported by the National Prevention of Blindness, the total economic disorder for eye disorder and vision loss is $139 Billion. (http://www.preventblindness.org)
There is a Focus on Eye Health National Summit, June 18th in Washington DC. The Focus on Eye Health National Summit was organized to elevate the national dialogue around vision and public health issues.
Common Eye Myths: Failure to use proper glasses will hurt your eyes; reading in dim light can damage your eyes; eating carrots will improve your vision; there is nothing you can do about preventing sight loss; an eye exam is only necessary if you're having problems; watching television too long or sitting too close can damage your eyes.
Leading cause of vision loss for Americans age 65 and older is AMD (Age-Related Macular Degeneration). Preventive steps is a regular eye doctor visit, learn and watch of symptoms and signs, don't smoke-eat healthy-stay active.
Another cause for loss of vision or scarring of the corneal is development of fungus due to wearing contact lenses. Preventive maintain routine eye doctor exam, dispose contacts when instructed, maintain proper lens hygiene, remove lens when showering, swimming or any water activities.

You would not believe how many “sure things” and “done deals” I’ve had fall apart at the last minute. I’ve been passed over for jobs and promotions I should have gotten so many times it isn’t funny. And the way people keep dangling carrots in front of my eyes, you’d think I was a hungry rabbit.
Despite all that, I don’t think I’ve ever been screwed. It’s all part of the ecosystem known as big business. It comes with the territory. If you’re going to get your feelings hurt, throw a fit, or whine about the injustice of it all, don’t even waste your time trying to make it. You probably won’t.
Truth is, the business world is risky business. It isn’t for the thin-skinned, the weak-minded or the faint of heart. And if you fit one of those colorful descriptors, sooner or later, you’re probably going to get weeded out of the entrepreneurial gene pool.

in Weight Loss
Hollywood is saying "sugar" is what you need to avoid to lose weight. Sugar is the culprit that zaps your energy and hinders your health? The problem with this is that not all sugar is created the same. There's sugar in broccoli, carrots, bananas, candy, agave, honey, bread and all other carbohydrates. Sugar by itself is not the problem. In this show Robert Ferguson brings clarity to the pros and cons of sugar.
