Like many, Eric Greene got the calling to be a musician after seeing an old clip of The Beatles. He got his first guitar, took lessons, & listened to records from BB King, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, David Gilmore, Joe Walsh and Dwayne Allman, learning by ear how to stylize his own sound. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and found a group of like-minded musicians, some from NJ, and they headed back to the Jersey Shore & established themselves in the Asbury Park music scene. Eric became a session player, writer & producer in NYC full time. That’s when Eric’s band mate, Mario Casella, and he produced some recordings of Mario’s music, which met with local critical acclaim as a WDHA-FM second place contest winner and earned airplay at the station. Mario Casella is a guitar playing singer & song writer who's blues roots show in most everything he writes. His musical career began in the hills of New Hampshire in 1970, jamming and playing with the likes of Aerosmith. Later his band Troublemaker was produced by Mick Ronson of David Bowie fame. During the same period, he found himself playing with Charlie (Midnight) Kaufman of James Brown’s Living In America fame. Mario’s studio & live music career has spanned over 40 years. Slim Chance & The Gamblers is his dream band, made up of eight of the most talented players in the Asbury area. The band has been paired with well-known rockers such as John Eddie, Marshall Tucker Band, Dave Mason & Southside Johnny, & they’ve got excellent overall appeal to folks looking for old school, blue collar rock & roll. After the interview, please check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

The Oscar hopefuls are coming in weekly now! October brings the most exciting time of the year in film as every big movie vieing for a gold statue starts to make their case. This week we'll be talking about the big screen adaptation of the gripping true life account of a free man kidnapped into slavery with Steve McQueen's Ten Years a Slave. Slightly less Oscary but just as highly anticipated we'll also be talking about the big screen remake of Carrie with Chloe Grace Moretz.
Jan in her own words:
First and foremost, I am a mother and grandmother. I formed my opinions about life at an early age and they haven’t really changed much since then – I believe war does not create lasting solutions, love will be the real revolution, and the human heart can expand until it holds love for the whole world. I have been a teacher, a newspaper columnist, a bank teller, a house cleaner, an executive director of a non-profit dedicated to education advocacy, a diversity trainer, AIDS activist, a group facilitator, and a waitress. Whatever it took to raise 5 kids and remain true to my values. I can’t carry a tune, but I love to sing and don’t know any steps, but I love to dance!
I have always used writing as a way to reflect on my own life and as a way to examine life's big questions. I have just started blogging recently. Mostly I have been concentrating on fiction and poetry.
I CALL MYSELF EARTH GIRL is my first novel.
