    Remembering Carnival Traditions, Part II

    in Culture

The first carnival was staged in 1912 during the final years of Danish occupation and lapsed during World War I. Revived in 1952, carnival has become the second largest festival in the Caribbean.

A month-long series of dazzling pageants and talent shows is held to choose royalty to rein over the festival. Fun events such as a boat race, Greased Pig Contest and Toddlers Derby entertain everyone at the festivities.

A series of elimination contests to crown top performers are called Calypso Tents. Calypsonions offer satirical commentary on the state of the islands, oftentimes mocking the shenanigans of politicians. Other popular events held during Carnival is j'ouvert, a morning jump up, a food fair presenting the islands’ best traditional eats and a competition to crown the King and Queen of the parade troupes.

A children's and adult’s parade close the lively month with brilliantly costumed and decorated troupes and floats.

Paranormal Kool-Aid Presents Mediums at Large!

    in Paranormal

Tonight we welcome two Mediums who took very different roads to come to their current locations!

Jen Devillier: published author, Psychic Medium, Spiritual Guide,  Lecturer. She has a lifetime of experience with the "Paranormal,". having her first encounter with a "Shadow Figure" at the age of 8. Her life is focused on developing abilities, and helping those in need (both dead and alive). Her goal is to help educate/guide people to be the spiritual beings they were meant to be. She has also written a book, "Dark Night Haunting," a paranormal autobiography, intended to help people realize they are more normal than they realize.

Next: Richard Braconi Jr. Rich is a Spirit Medium, a Medical Intuitive and has grown the understanding of how to spiritually connect, receive and understand universal truth. He was not born with any special gifts and states that he is, "no different than everyone else." I think when you hear his story you will agree that he is QUIET different and unique.  He came to the conclusion that each of us holds a "divine presence" inside of them, and thus began his long spiritual journey.
