Caren Appel, a therapist by day and an adventurer -- apparently in her spare time!
Actually, she is also a published author and a unique artist of "fracking art"!
She also LOVES to participate in very interesting and exciting events, fundraisers etc...
Last year she ran her first marathon -- The Marine Corp Marathon in Washington D.C....
NOW, she is training to reappel off the roof of the 28-story high Marriott Hotel in downtown Baltimore, Maryland -- WHY???
Is this an awesome fundraiser or a really crazy, dangerous event?

Silently Seizing is a breakthrough new book that explores what most doctors won’t tell you about autism that in some cases, the symptoms of autism are caused by seizures that are undetectable with standard diagnostic tools. The stealth relationship between autism and seizures has been hidden until very recently, and today, innovative clinicians and researchers acknowledge that in order to accurately diagnose autism, it is imperative to look for seizure activity in the brain. It is a sad fact that many children diagnosed with autism do not receive effective treatment because the seizure element is not addressed. The doctors who have generously shared their wisdom in this book all of whom are noted experts in their fields have seen first-hand that children show measurable gains when treated early for seizures. Many such children actually end up “losing” their autism diagnosis, replacing it with a diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), which is easily manageable with the right medications. If an unrecognized seizure disorder turns out to be the culprit, then treating it can produce a miracle of healing. Up to 50% of all children diagnosed with with autism have undiagnosed seizure disorders, to a great extent because they are difficult to diagnose and due to a lack of awareness and understanding. Caren Haines, with renowned behavioral child neurologist Nancy Minshew, MD, is determined to change that. At age two, author Caren Haines' son was diagnosed with autism. By the time he was 12, his diagnosis didn't account for his uncontrollable aggression, the acrid smells that lingered in his mind and the odd voices that screamed at him from inside his head. By the time he was 18, his out-of-control behavior mirrored a mood disorder with psychotic features. Silently Seizing begins with a close-up look at this family's journey and examines a disorder that cannot always be identified in a clinical setting.

For the past 30 years Caren has dedicated her personal and professional life to communicating and connecting with people. Her past experiences have allowed her to meet many different people and make a difference in their lives. In the early 90’s she was a children’s rock and roll singer, signed with Rhino Records. She traveled the country singing songs of self-esteem. That experience culminated with a concert at Carnegie hall. During that same time she owned a creative arts company that provided programming for the public and private schools sector in Los Angeles. Her 50 plus teachers brought art programs back, which had been cut out of the schools because of budget cuts. Caren has learned a lot about what it takes for people to create positive experiences in their lives while following their passions. http://www.promoteyourpassionnow.com

Frame Drum Wisdom- Reclaim Your Voice for Healing with Karen Renee Robb
After 25 years in Corporate America, Karen Renée felt a deep calling to use her unique talents, experience & marketing expertise to advocate for and participate in sound & music healing modalities. She found inspiration in frame drum singing, toning and drumming. Introduced to the frame drum from a TEDx talk by Eliana Gilad in early 2013, she states “The first time I watched & listened to her sing into the drum, I knew that I was being called to do it as well. I believe there is an opportunity for a lot of people to resonate with it." Karen facilitates "play-shops," organizational workshops & private sessions to introduce others to the art and magic of the frame drum.
Her new venture called "Frame Drum Wisdom-Reclaim Your Voice For Healing", is helping people reclaim their voice, to speak their truth and create sounds that stir their heart & soul. She has touched the lives of people in transition through volunteering at Alive Hospice; awakened the voices of people of all ages, especially women; provided connection & vocal strength for people with Parkinson’s; and even used the drum to aide in a local drug rehabilitation program. Karen believes the application for this frame drum wisdom is truly endless.
