Another great topic of discussion this week, learn how to use Networking effectively in your career. All of us have friends, colleagues, co-workers, past co-workers, but do we really network effectively with them? Networking really starts with helping others out first, to serve and help them with their need. When you do that, it is much easier to connect with someone to find a job or obtain career advice. Learn from the career expert, JoeWoo as he shares tips on how to network effectively!
You hear about the people all the time that are in the right place at the right time. It seems to be a coincident that they have so many opportunities opening up for them. Well it isn't luck. It did not happen by accident.
First a person has to believe in himself or herself. They have to seek situations to make opportunities. Then they are savvy enough to take advantage of them. Keep playing the victim if you want, but It's a matter of taking control and creating the opportunities that fit your characteristics and unique abilities.
Want to make good things happen for you? If you want better opportunities, you need to watch your mindset, have some good habits and understand how you can create opportunities that you can put to work. So lets see what we are going to learn.
Once you start the network machinery running, the next step is training yourself to think of your job search as a business with you as its CEO. All of the decisions affecting your job search begin and end with you and you will learn the fine art of taking responsibility for them.
Every so often someone crosses your path who becomes a lightning rod that changes your life forever. For me, the turning point was meeting Mr. Rod Colón back in January of 1999. While exploring consulting opportunities, a friend suggested I contact Rod to discuss tactics and strategies. As I recall, he had no leads to share with me at that time; nevertheless I walked away from that meeting with a strange and inspiring thought: Whatever Rod Colón was involved in, I wanted to be a part of it. He had brilliant business insights, an animated, uplifting and thoroughly engaging personality, and what appeared to be a sixth sense about how to help people find jobs. (Carl E. Reid)
