Good Evening, and welcome to the first ever episode on Live the Day; A washington State Cougar Podcast. It's Dad's weekend in Pullman, and on tonight's episode we'll dive right into this week's action as the Washington State Cougars will play host to the Arizona Wildacats.
The Cougars come into this game with a multitude of questions that need to be answered. As we've seen thus far in the season, the Cougs are far from playing as a complete team. The Wildcats come into the game as one of the hottest teams in the Pac-12 averaging 574 total yards per game, only second to the Cougars. How will the Cougs contain Ano Solomon, and the Hig powered Arizona offense? We'll let you know.
Phone lines are wide open tonight, and you can also hit Steve up on Twitter @InsiderSteve. We'll See you at 7pm on Live the Day! #WavetheFlag #GoCougs
Our post-Thanksgiving program (Canadian Thanksgiving, that is) features two great Canadian acts from different ends of the stylistic spectrum.
Victoria Banks is fresh off the release of Indigo, her third studio album, a collection of songs stemming from bare-bones midnight recording sessions in her attic. In addition to her own multi-award-nominated releases, Banks is a staff songwriter at Nashville’s RareSpark Media Group with a catalogue that includes hits for the likes of Sara Evans, Jessica Simpson, One More Girl, Doc Walker, and Johnny Reid
As for The Meds, the PEI-based rock outfit has been touring the country on the back of their debut full-length, South America. Theirs is a sound that blends easily-accessible mainstream rock with a folky, poetic vocal style and plenty of substance. The album was co-produced by Matt Mays and Colin MacDonald of The Trews.
Dave Nichols and Andy Holmes of District Sports Page discuss the Washington Redskins 19-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.
This week, we're bringing you a special roundtable interview with the artists on the upcoming Bands On The Run Tour - Doc Walker, The Road Hammers, and Blackjack Billy.
Doc Walker is dropping their eighth studio album - appropriately titled The 8th - on Oct. 21st, featuring the already-hit singles "That's How I Like It" and "Shake It Like It's Saturday Night." It's the band's first full-length without longtime member Murray Pulver, so we'll talk about readjusting to life on the road and how the new material will take shape on the stage.
As for the Road Hammers, their record Wheels has been doing well since dropping earlier this year. Frontman Jason McCoy talks about some of the differences between performing as a member of the trio vs. his solo tours and a lot more. Noll Billings, vocalist with Blackjack Billy, also weighs in on the band's experiences in Canada thus far and what they're anticipating for this upcoming run with their friends.
Finally, in CM Academy, we speak with James Boyle, the current executive director of the Halifax Pop Explosoin, who's getting ready for his first run at the helm. The lineup this year features acts like Against Me!, Danny Brown, and our Nov/Dec 2014 cover artists, Zeds Dead. We'll chat about what's going on leading up to this edition and what fans should be looking forward to.

The Washington Red***** is the name of an NFL football team. Established in 1932, the Washington team has been an NFL mainstay for 82 years, winning multiple championships, including three Super Bowls. The name Red****, however, has been a source of contention with many Native Americans who consider the word a racial slur. The challenges to the name, documented as early as the 1960's, have recently come to a head in Blackstone v. Pro-Football, Inc., in which a group of Native Americans sued under Section 2(a), 15 USC sect 1052(a), which is a part of the Lanham Act, resulting in the cancellation of 6 of the Red**** registered trademarks. The Red**** appealed to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, alleging that section 2(a) is, among other things, an unconstitutional content-based restriction in violation of the First Amendment.
Attorney Sarah Steele and writer Bennet Pomerantz discuss the subjects of the day.
The audience should know that although Ms. Steele is a licensed attorney, she is not offering legal advice in any capacity, is not establishing an attorney/client relationship with anyone listening to the show, and recommends that any listener of the show consult a local attorney for any legal advice they may require.
This show is about us discussing hot topics and how they relate to the law.
Tonight we discuss the controversy surrounding the Washington Redskins' name. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has canceled six federal trademark registrations for the name of the Washington Redskins, ruling that the name is “disparaging to Native Americans” and thus cannot be trademarked under federal law that prohibits the protection of offensive or disparaging language. Tune in and listen to the hosts weigh in on this hotly debated topic.
