How to Remain Stress Free in a Stressful Envirnoment

Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"…  Mark 4:38-40

He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. Matt 8:26

The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.  Luke 8:24

    How Successful People Stay Calm

    in Business

The ability to manage your emotions and remain calm under pressure has a direct link to your performance. TalentSmart has conducted research with more than a million people, and we’ve found that 90% of top performers are skilled at managing their emotions in times of stress in order to remain calm and in control

.Research from the University of California, Berkeley, reveals an upside to experiencing moderate levels of stress. But it also reinforces how important it is to keep stress under control. The study, led by post-doctoral fellow Elizabeth Kirby, found that the onset of stress entices the brain into growing new cells responsible for improved memory. However, this effect is only seen when stress is intermittent. As soon as the stress continues beyond a few moments into a prolonged state, it suppresses the brain’s ability to develop new cells.

Besides increasing your risk of heart disease, depression, and obesity, stress decreases your cognitive performance. Fortunately, though, unless a lion is chasing you, the bulk of your stress is subjective and under your control. Top performers have well-honed coping strategies that they employ under stressful circumstances. This lowers their stress levels regardless of what’s happening in their environment, ensuring that the stress they experience is intermittent and not prolonged.

Jesus Can Calm Your Storm ! Gospel of John Series Continues!

    in Religion

Starting in John 6:16 we see that Jesus is able to calm a storm that had suddenly erupted on the sea. The desciples were in the boat when the storm arose. The clouds were threatening, the waves were crashing into the boat, the sky was darkened, and the desciples were filled with fear! Jesus was not in the boat at that time. When Jesus got into the boat though.....the storm ended and they arrived where the Lord intended them to be......even though they were not where ohers had expected them to be. Most of Jesus' desciples were fishermen and they should have been used to storms on the sea.........but this storm really tossed them with fear untill they invited JESUS into their boat. Join SONSHINE USA Bible teacher Warren Landis on today's exciting Bible Study in John's Gospel! Stay tuned!
