One year ago this month, reporter/journalist Michael Hastings was killed in a fiery car crash, leading many to speculate that his untimely death - he was only 33 - was as suspicious as that of another high-profile journalist, Andrew Breitbart.
Tonight we take a closer look at the life and work of Michael Hastings, whose profile of Gen. Stanley McChrystal ended his military career, and whose profile of Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl and his family could have been written today instead of two years ago.

David Codrea has long been a valiant defender of our right to bear arms guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment. He was the keynote speaker for Connecticut Citizens Defense League at their April 5, rally in Hartford at the State Capitol.
David has been writing professionally on the subject of the right to keep and bear arms since 1999, initially for GUNS & AMMO magazine, then on to HANDGUNS, and for the last eight years at GUNS, where he is field editor producing the monthly “Rights Watch” column.
The NYT blog selected him as a panelist to discuss the Virginia Tech shootings, and he has been written about in the NYT, AP, The Arizona Republic, WorldNetDaily, BuzzFeed, the Romanian newspaper Adevarul, and the science journal Nature.
Blogging at The War on Guns: Notes from the Resistance and writing the National Gun Rights Examiner column, Codrea is a frequent guest on national and major market radio and television programs, most recently on Lou Dobbs Tonight. He is a weekly contributor to the nationally-syndicated Armed American Radio, and was a featured speaker at the 2010 2nd Amendment March in Wash. D.C. and the Georgia Carry Annual Convention Keynote Speaker in 2012.
Codrea was named Gun Rights Defender of the Month, April, 2007 by "Citizens Cmte for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms" for persuading the Bush Admin. to strike “collective rights” language from the Fed. Register in an FAA ruling. In 2011, he was named “Journalist of the Year” by the 2nd Amendment Foundation for his groundbreaking work exposing the “Fast and Furious” ATF “gunwalking” scandal, and was a co-recipient of Soldier of Fortune Magazine’s “2nd Amendment Freedom Fighter Award,” and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership’s “David and Goliath Award” for his work on that story.

Edward Snowden has made some dangerous enemies. As the American intelligence community struggles to contain the public damage done by the former National Security Agency contractor’s revelations of mass domestic spying, intelligence operators have continued to seethe in very personal terms against the 30 year-old leaker.
“In a world where I would not be restricted from killing an American, I personally would go and kill him myself,” a current NSA analyst told BuzzFeed. “A lot of people share this sentiment.”
“I would love to put a bullet in his head,” one Pentagon official, a former special forces officer, said bluntly. “I do not take pleasure in taking another human beings life, having to do it in uniform, but he is single handedly the greatest traitor in American history.”
That violent hostility lies just beneath the surface of the domestic debate over NSA spying is still ongoing. Some members of Congress have hailed Snowden as a whistleblower, the New York Times has called for clemency, and pundits regularly defend his actions on Sunday talk shows. In intelligence community circles, Snowden is considered a nothing short of a traitor in wartime.

In September, Rep. Trey Radel voted for Republican legislation that would allow states to make food stamp recipients pee in cups to prove they're not on drugs. In October, police busted the Florida Republican on a charge of cocaine possession.
"'It’s really interesting it came on the heels of Republicans voting on everyone who had access to food stamps get drug tested," House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told BuzzFeed Tuesday. "It’s like, what?'
