You wake up and are getting ready to start the day. Over a quick cup of coffee, you scan the headlines, check status updates on Facebook and Twitter. Scan emails, and make your to do list. While driving to work, you dictate an email to your smartphone, and listen to the latest rss feeds. You arrive at work, check your daily schedule and stare at the massive amount of work on your desk, voicemails to respond to, and emails start arriving in your inbox. Lunch consists of a energy drink while you try and catch up on meetings, webinars and such. Your afternoon commute has you looking at where your kids need to be, and how you are going to get them there. There is still dinner to organize, wash to fold, trash to take out, and more. You get to bed, check emails one more time, and lay down to sleep, only to wake up a few hours later to start the day over again.
Does this sound like your day? Busyness is a disease that has overtaken our society. I haven't even touched on church work that needs to be done. This week, on Talkin Scripture, we will discuss the dangers of busyness, and take a look at what our real priorities needs to be.
Another disease is excessive busyness. It is found in those who immerse themselves in work and inevitably neglect to “rest a while.” Neglecting needed rest leads to stress and agitation. A time of rest, for those who have completed their work, is necessary, obligatory and should be taken seriously: by spending time with one’s family and respecting holidays as moments for recharging.Join Daniel and Johnnie as they continue their conversation on The 15 Diseases of Leadership, According to Pope Francis and see where you might need to redirect your way of thinking or maybe not and keep getting the results you already have.
What is it that we in the Western World find so admirable about busyness? Do we actually spirituallize exhaustion?
There's something about our culture that lends a lot of praise to those who max out their schedules with activities, meetings, work, trips, etc. But the toll that it takes on the quality of your life is not always readily acknowledged or addressed.
Tune in today as we talk to Jane Rubietta, author of the book, Finding Life: From Eden to Gethsemane - the Garden Restored. Find out why she says that busyness is a key factor in keeping you stressed and disconnected, even from God, and why it's important to re-priortize your life to get back in balance.

There are so many words and ways to surrender, but often we neither use the words not take the time to fully surrender and if we did we'd wind up with a fuller more prosperous life. Too often we believe doing, doing is what's needed to succeed. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Focused work, yes but not filling up your day with busyness. Join me on the second part to surrendering while enlarging your life.
Starting your own faith-based business can be challenging, exhausting, and at times frustrating. But you keep pursuing it anyway knowing that your efforts will be rewarded and you will soon have an enterprise that not only follows God’s will for you but also allows you to have financial wriggle room.
In your journey to building your business it is not uncommon that amidst the busyness of building that enterprise, someone takes a backseat — even sometimes gets neglected: yourself.
In this episode we chat with relationship expert and business coach Susan Boone who will share how being a well-loved woman leads to professional and personal success.
It may be a familiar sight to you: burned out, exhausted, even young kids are reaching for the soda, coffee or energy drink. Why are we so tired? Certaintly our "busyness" culture and our modern diet loaded with sugar and carbs are no doubt part of the problem.
So how can we naturally boost our body's energy, starting with one simple change?

Managing people can be a difficult task. Doing it gracefully can seem nearly impossible some days. Surprising though, even worse than the difficulty of managing people is the trap of doing it all ourselves.
We need to remember the importance of letting go. As an entrepreneur it is so easy to always see every task as being something we have to do. The truth though is much different. All distractions are equal and in your business the distraction of busyness can be the worst. We need to learn how to identify not only our strengths but also our weaknesses. Then as we have said many times, we need to STOP DOING WHAT YOU SUCK AT! Let your brilliance shine and allow others a place where their brilliance can shine as well.
We need to discover how to assign people where they will shine and then lead them with grace. It is our job as the owner of our company and the CEO of our business to create an environment of empowerment. By allowing our people to shine and creating a graceful place for accomplishment we receive a business that is not only successful, but is more importantly THRIVING!
Join host Steve Kidd and his special guest Michael James. Michael spent years as a general contractor, so he knows how to manage people and projects. Michael also went on an incredible journey of self-discovery that has changed his life. Michael shares with what he learned about himself and how that can help you and your business to:
Be open to asking for help
Giving Grace as we Manage people
Assigning tasks to the right people and empowering their success
