Assault by Business Card: Is there a Better Way to Network?

    in Business

Assault by Business Card: Is there a Better Way to Network? This is our topic this morning on The Core Business Show with Tim Jacquet. Networking is a pretty useless activity if the people you meet don’t remember you. Thus one of the major projects you should undertake is the creation of a persona. You need to be remembered for one thing in particular–actually, you’ll ideally be remembered for many things. I take a two-pronged approach to this, both in the business cards I hand out and in the physical impression I make. The business card is the personal currency of any industry. If you show up to an industry event and you don’t have a business card, you might as well be playing football without your helmet. Preparing food without your knife. Metaphor making without your imagination. Erm. You get the idea. This show is sponsored by Apple Capital Group, Inc. #applecapital #applecapitalgroup

A Global Business Network: Can African Americans Unite With Africans In America?

    in Women

We have a common ancestry, but no longer speak the same languae and many times we don't follow the same culture, but African Americans (those born in America descending from generations of family lineage) and Africans in America (recent imigrants to America) have a grand opportunity to create a global business network, by importing products from Africa and selling them on the American market. Others around the globe are imitating African clothing and artifacts (China, Korea, etc.) and selling them cheaply to African Americans. African American hair care companies that once cornered the market have been bought out by the larger white owned companies such as Revlon, who promptly dominated the world market of crinkly haired people. Can we capitalize on a common heritage, recapture our connection, and create a global economy that enhances the prosperity for both African Americans and Africans in America? Mr. Symon Ogeto of the African Global Chamber of Commerce shares his views on Africa's influence on the global marketplace.

To Network Or NOT to Network....that is one heck of a business question!

    in Entrepreneur

Ok. So we are going to be brutally honest this week, it's tough love Wednesday. Our topic is "To network or not to network". Of course the answer is yes, we should all be networking. Our discussion is going to be based on how to get the most our of your networking. We go to alot of functions and we see alot of small businesses present. Many of the people we know are so good at "networking" that the activity becomes the sum whole of thier business time. Many of us are asked to attend, volunteer and donate to more stuff than we can keep a hold on. We are told if we attend events, dinners, luncheons, after hours, social hours, gulf outtings and so on that we will become the "go to people". Though networking is a large part of our business we really rope it in and have a set list of criteria for the events we go to, what we spend our time on and we go in knowing what we want and need to get out of something. We feel, if we are attending functions with out a clear plan, we are not networking, we are playing business owner. This discussion we will discuss the pit falls of networking, how to get the most out of your networking efforts and how to choose the best networking options available to you!
