The Light of Humanity Show - New York Bus Driver Darnell Barton Saves Woman on Bridge
Guest: Darnell Barton
Topic of Inspiration: On October 18, 2013, Darnell Barton, a Buffalo, New York bus driver was driving a bus full of passengers on the 198 Expressway overpass when he spotted a woman on the wrong side of the guard-rail. What happened next is a heart-warming and truly inspirational story that demands re-telling over and over and over again.
"Part of me said, 'Keep going because you have a job to do. But when I saw what was happening, I couldn't. Getting downtown on time no longer mattered. Helping her, saving her, getting her on the right side of the bridge, meant absolutely everything."
Our "Inspirationcasts" are good news radio broadcasts featuring people that are "lighting up the earth" in positively wonderful ways. We show people it's cool to be kind and the experiences that are created from these acts of goodness create magical moments and wonderful stories that demand re-telling and even re-creating.

On August 19, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced that it will accept input from stakeholders to determine a possible rulemaking for entry-level truck driver training. After years of failing to implement a final rule which would establish such criteria, the FMCSA is considering using a negotiated rulemaking, known as RegNeg.
Under RegNeg, outside agency representatives would consult among each other in order to develop the proposed rule, taking the responsibility away from the FMCSA. In Canada, a task force is working toward establishing criteria for entry-level drivers, as well as hoping to have the Canadian government classify truck driving as a "skilled" profession.
Furthermore, the Canadian Trucking Alliance has admitted that the primary causes for a driver shortage are driver wages, quality of life, qualifications and demographics.
Join us as we look at the very different approach by the U.S. and Canada as it relates to driver training and recognizing the importance of the professional driver. Just one topic for our "Open Forum."

Our special guest, Kirk Kostoff draws from twenty years of combined skills in the B2B sales marketing and strategic business development arena, drawing from his experiences in the Fortune 500 market.
In 2011 Mr. Kostoff entered the logistics side of business through his introduction and interaction with CR England and what he refers to as their "self proclaimed" legitimate franchise. His recent actions with the ongoing CR England class action litigation associated with driver's rights, legitimate wages and living conditions has positioned him as an upcoming "voice of reason" and concern for the small business owner, just recently founding The Drivers Association of America.
Through extensive OTR experience and close contact with established strategic alliances, our guest will be discussing "The Power of Driver Credentials, The Driver Shortage Myth and Remedies through Education and Implementation."
We invite everyone to consider these topics and call in with their perspectives as we will also discuss the CR England case as it is public knowledge and to reiterate for all the industry newcomers about the motor carrier leasing scams to once again explain how it all works against the professional truck driver.

A bus, a bike, and a Boston terrier. These are the only major constants in Bob Votruba’s life as he continues a ten-year journey across the country to encourage everyone to reach one goal: To do one million acts of kindness in your lifetime.
We discovered Bob at the Hessler Street Fair in Cleveland this past spring. His bus advertises his mission in giant letters painted on one side, "One Million Acts of Kindness." It's a goal, he says, that a person under 30 can realistically meet if he or she makes it a point to be kind to someone every day.
Painted on the back window is the reason why the mission exists: “Because of Virginia Tech 4-16-07 End All Forms Of Hatred!!” In the aftermath of the horrific shootings at Virginia Tech in 2007, Bob bought a bus, had about sixty family members, friends and neighbors help paint it and began a ten-year journey with his Boston Terrier, Bogart, to college campuses across the country hoping to convince our nation’s youth about this much needed movement for this world.
For the next 60 minutes, journey with Bob Votruba and pave the road to kindness.

Do you know your potential customers? Identifying potential customers and their locations helps businesses determine if these customers can be reached. If they can be reached, we can continue to determine the market feasibility of the project. If not, then not much time, effort or money was used. Starting feasibility assessments with customer identification saves businesses money in the long run.
Knowing who your customers are, where they are located and if you can access them is key to determining the potential success of your business. Tune in this week to hear how you can have the hand up on identifying your potential new customers!
