What's it like to write a book about an NBA team? Jake Appleman, author of Brooklyn Bounce, joins the Drive & Kick to talk about his experiences on the inside of the Nets move to Brooklyn from New Jersey. Appleman chronicled every aspect of the operation from the arrival of Deron Williams to the blockbuster deal that sent Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Brooklyn.
The Brooklyn Nets entered the season with championship expectations and one of the most talented rosters on paper. However, Brooklyn has failed to meet those lofty expectations and the roster has failed to develop chemistry thanks largely to injuries.
Michael Scotto covers the Nets for Sheridan Hoops as an NBA columnist. In this podcast with FOX Sports Radio he examines Brooklyn’s bleak 2014 outlook and if it’s time to sell at the trade deadline or hold onto the core pieces for another run next season at full strength.
Scotto joined Chris Rix and Arnie Spanier of FOX Sports Radio to detail Brooklyn’s rapid decline
The Brooklyn Nets looked like a team needing as much construction as the Gowanus Expressway in 2013, but have cruised up the Eastern Conference standings like a driver in the HOV lane in 2014 as Michael Scotto outlined in his latest column.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have made it easier for Carmelo Anthony to consider leaving in free agency.
Before the Knicks and Nets hit the hardwood on Friday, Scotto joined “Between the Lines” on WPRB 103.3 FM in Princeton, N.J. with host Sitesh Shah to discuss how the Nets have turned the corner in 2014 and preview possible playoff scenarios, along with Carmelo Anthony’s free agency plans and what Knicks management will look to do this offseason, including adding a new head coach.
You won't believe what Dinesh D'Souza had to say to Brooklyn GOP Radio in an EXCLUSIVE interview that we'll air Wednesday at 9PM!
Dinesh D’Souza has had a 25-year career as a writer, scholar, and public intellectual. A former policy analyst in the Reagan White House, D’Souza also served as John M. Olin Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and the Robert and Karen Rishwain Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He served as the president of The King’s College in New York City from 2010 to 2012.
Called one of the “top young public-policy makers in the country” by Investor’s Business Daily, D’Souza quickly became known as a major influencer on public policy through his writings.
Most recently, D'Souza, the creator of 2016: Obama's America, has taken us on a journey of discovery that bringsyou face-to-face with the heroes who built America, in the times in which they lived, bled, and sacrificed in order to build a great nation: Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and others. You'll be there as Columbus sets foot on American soil, as bullets whiz by in the acclaimed book-turned-film, America.
What he told us about his thoughts of Republican politics today will definitely get your attention! Tune in!
We've been told for years that an openly gay player on a pro sports team would be a terrible distraction and undermine a team's ability to win. Yet the Brooklyn Nets are 8-2 with him - that's their second-best 10-game streak of the season. Does it matter that Collins hasn't played many minutes?
And the Myrtle Beach Mutiny pro soccer team signed out gay player Anton Hysen. That's in South Carolina. How much does this tell us about how far pro sports have come?
Remarkably, we have already reached the namesake of the Brooklyn Dodgers World Championship year. Episode 55 has arrived, and what better way to celebrate than with a man who spent his formative years in the heart of Brooklyn on the border of Borough Park and Bensonhurst.
John Fricelli would sing Doo Wop with his buddies on the streetcorners and watch John Wayne at the Endicott Theatre.
He will join us today to talk about growing up in Brooklyn...
...and maybe even croon a tune.
