The Father Factor - Vincent Ellis White

    in Lifestyle

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 24 million children in America - 1-3 live in biological father-absent homes. Nine in ten Americans agree this is a crisis. Due to the "father factor", affecting most of the social issues in America today-from police brutality, to youth delinquency and academic failures-breakdowns in the system have become all too prevalent. This underscores the fact that children with involved fathers do better across every statistic on child well-being than their peers in father-absent homes. A stable at-home dad was something yearned for by author/advocate Vincent Ellis White when he was a kid. Seeing how it led to rage and rebellion in his own life, he now focuses on mentoring, healthy family advocacy, & strengthening families by way of creating awareness and open dialogue to help address similar problems faced by youths dealing with the father factor.

He is joining us to discuss his book titled "Finding Chris My Father."  (347) 637-2319 and press 1.

    ABOUT THE BOOK
Memoirs Of An Over Comer,This autobiography tells the story of what one young girl had to do to survive. It reflects how she overcame numerous trials and tribulations to become a fearless woman of God. You will laugh and you will cry. You will be captivated and unable to put it down. But most of all, you will praise God from whom all blessings flow and appreciate the author for stepping out on faith to help others who are or who have been in her situation. These are little nuggets that the author has learned along the way. The trials of this author come from a real place and speak to the hearts of not just Christians but any woman who has had to endure the trials of this life. #AnOverCome

Staci Ellis of Life Stuff for Kids: Emotional & Social Support for Kids

    in Radio

Think it’s easy being a kid these days? Think again: peer pressure, social pressure, finances, bullying, divorce, standardized testing, guns, drugs, school violence, abusive adults, low self-esteem, and more. These are many of the same problems that adults face, but as adults we typically have coping skills. But even though adults have coping skills, many still have difficulty dealing with these situations. So how do we expect kids to effectively handle these situations? More importantly, how and where do kids learn the social and emotional skills they need to cope with the life challenges they will ultimately face? The lucky kids will meet Staci Ellis, a child and adult psychotherapist who specializes in trauma. Years ago, Staci created a mock brochure for her young nephew which provided advice and preparation for life challenges. From that idea, Staci developed Life Stuff for Kids, a forum for kids to express and exchange thoughts on life challenges. Kids need to know they have someone to turn to for help and resources to get them through life’s difficulties. Staci Ellis knows more than most on that subject. She began as a Therapeutic Support Staff with a non-profit, served hundreds of families as a Mobile Therapist and Behavior Specialist for 15 years, then became a Trauma Therapist working with kids and adults. She taught parents and school staff behavior management skills and provided professional training on Trauma and Children to bachelor, masters, and doctoral level attendees, and facilitated a class for separating parents called Children in the Middle. After the interview, please check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

Why Church People w. Ellis & Tumeki

    in Self Help

How should churches deal with unwed pregnant girls and women?  Should they be allowed to sing in the choir?  Usher?  Teach Sunday School?  Back in the day, we made them come in front of the church and “confess” their sin, now they wear that sin as a badge of honor…WHY, CHURCH PEOPLE?
