Bring the Brave is a program about men by men. Bring the Brave is a regular exploration of topics concerning the modern man. Family, fulfillment, love, fear, joy and passion and of finding meaning in the time that we have here. Sometimes light, sometimes deep, we'll delve into topics that excite us, inspire us, fascinate us and scare us in service of seeing what's there, of getting to know ourselves a little better. - See more at: http://www.thevoiceofleadership.com/bring-the-brave.html#sthash.tm48lMI2.dpuf
Episode 6: Children, Parenting and Possibility
This week's show is a bit of a stylistic roller coaster, featuring performer/songwriter John Southworth, Quebec-based hardcore outfit Obey the Brave, and Kingston rock quintet The Glorious Sons.
Southworth is set to drop his latest LP, a double album called Niagara that's divided into a Canadian and American side, at the end of September. We speak about how the album took shape as well as some of his other artistic endavours and how they correlate.
Obey The Brave, comprised of ex members of Blind Witness and Despised Icon, released their second full-length effort Salvation mid-September. We speak with vocalist Alex Erian about the band's progress since their debut, Young Blood, as well as the current state of the hardcore scene.
Finally, the boys of Glorious Sons are fresh off the release of their debut full-length The Union, produced in tandem with John-Angus MacDonald of The Trews and the one and only Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Three Days Grace). We get the scoop on the band's success thus far and some of their upcoming plans.
This week, Hodari B. Davis takes us live to Philadelphia for a webcast that features poets from Brave New Voices. The 2014 festival features over 500 Teen Poetry Slam Champions from 50 parts of the country and 5 additional cities from across the globe, representing over 50,000 young poets in their local communities. These young writers are a diverse, creative, intelligent group of trendsetting community and cultural leaders. They come to Brave New Voices each year not only to compete, but also to attend world-class workshops led by renowned poets and writers, participate in youth development programs, and highlight the voices of a new generation of leadership.
