Dr. Williams has had an interest in medical research at an early age. After watching his grandmother struggle with breast cancer, he set out on a journey to find a cure. In college, Dr. Williams spent his spare time in the labs and library researching gene therapy. He won many awards for his efforts.
After receiving his Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, Dr. Williams became interested in a new concept: destroying cancer cells by using radiofrequency ablation of tumors. This procedure used the same minimally-invasive technique of using imaging to guide the needle straight into the tumor and instead of biopsying the tumor, it was heated and destroyed. This was already being done in the liver at other research hospitals, but was relatively new to other areas of the body.
It didn't take long for the word to spread about this new procedure, and Dr. Williams was performing ablations on many patients around the world. He won many awards including the Radiological Society of North American Resident / Fellow of the Year.
As one of the pioneers of cancer ablation, Dr. Williams founded The American Cancer Ablation Center in 2003 and began seeing patients at his office in Gulf Shores. He takes pride in being able to offer his patients the latest, most advanced medical imaging technology and procedures available to date.
