Hard Starboard Radio: 20-20 Iraq War Hindsight

    in Politics Conservative

The University of Colorado-Boulder launches an "insult-reporting system" that records offenders’ Social Security numbers; Democrats get a taste of Obama’s arrogance; Obama's Middle East policy: a region in chaos and flames; and Hillary Clinton's - and Republican presidential contenders’ - cowardly, after-the-fact opposition to the Iraq War.

ReMax of Boulder Radio - Boulder History Museum's Chief Niwot Exhibit

    in Fitness

Carol Taylor of the Boulder History Museum joins Duane Duggan to discuss the Chief Niwot exhibit.  To commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the tragic massacre at Sand Creek, Colorado, the Boulder History Museum is re-introducing the award-winning exhibition, Chief Niwot~Legend & Legacy, with new content and artifacts previously not on display.

Chief Niwot struggled to find peace during the most fateful years in Southern Arapaho history. His life and legacy are revealed in this exhibit along with the Arapahos’ place in Boulder’s history.

The Boulder History Museum is excited to present the powerful story Chief Niwot, one of the most notable Indians of the plains, a man about whom legends were made. Niwot’s story is one of honor and deceit, hope and despair. When hoards of white men began migrating to the central plains in the mid-nineteenth century, they moved into the land that was home to the Arapaho and Cheyenne Indians. In 1858, the Arapaho Chief Niwot (translated in English as Left Hand) astonished the early gold-seekers in Colorado by greeting them in their own language. He and his tribe hoped to make peace with the newcomers to allow the two cultures to share the same land and coexist peacefully. Niwot devoted his life to this struggle but his efforts ultimately failed. He was mortally wounded at the Sand Creek Massacre in 1864. This exhibit is the first to reveal the story of Chief Niwot and the complexity his struggle to find peace during the most fateful years in the history of the Southern Arapaho Indians.

and between friends. Our community will be strengthened by exploring a pivotal piece of regional history in its rightful context.

Toward a Broader Socialization of Our Religion

    in Spirituality

Jesus asked his followers to dedicate their lives to the regeneration of all humankind, by living and proclaiming a new and higher way of life.  In our generation, The Urantia Book asks us to take up this same call. And it provides the guidance we need, in great detail, to begin to address this mission.  If we could develop a dynamic evolutionary movement, that powerfully conveyed the spiritual essence of the revelation, in a form that ministered to large numbers of people in varied cultures around the world, what might it look like?

We talked about this on air with Marvin Gawryn recently. He's coming to Boulder, Colorado this Saturday May 2nd, to do a daylong seminar on this topic of socializing our religion. The hosts of the Cosmic Citizen, Paula, Christilyn and Andre, will be attending Marvin's seminar and so we are replaying this show to facilitate our participation.

On this episode, we explored passages in the revelation that project the outlines of such a social spiritual movement, and together we imagined how we might move toward its realization.

Marvin Gawryn has been a student of The Urantia Book for forty-seven years, leading study groups and serving in various capacities in the Urantia Book Fellowship for much of that time.  He is retired after thirty years in practice as a family therapist, and currently provides coaching and consulting services part time.  He and his wife Francyl live in Boulder City, Nevada, and have two grown daughters and their first grandchild.

If you are interested in Marvin coming to your community to present a similar seminar, you can inquire with him at: mgawryn@gmail.com.
